Brisbane Lions select:

Jonathan Simpkin: From Hawthorn Football Club.

Delisted at the end of the year after a premiership medal the years before. Very good midfielder who struggled to break into the mighty Hawthorn line up what he brings to our young group as well as depth is leadership and experience.

We have gone real young and was thinking of young Holman from Carlton but with Jansen, Bell and Bastinac we got our inside midfield needs sorted. Simpkin brings good disposal and footy nous on the field. He can play outside midfield also.

With our 3rd pick in the draft I'm going for addressing needs and after a bit of thinking while waiting for others to pick I've settled on

Darcy Cameron 204cm 101kg Ruckman from Claremont.

20 year old Ruckman who has also developed as a KPF. Split his time between the reserves and senior level working alongside Seaby. The last 2 seasons he has alternated between the seniors and reserves playing 21 senior games and 20 reserves games. In the reserves he averaged 12.8 disposals 5.4 marks 2.1 tackles & 34 hitouts. At senior level splitting his time between the forward line and ruck he averaged 9.7 disposals 3.7 marks 1.7 tackles & 18.4 hitouts. Given our ruck stocks are an old warrior in Maric, his little cousin Soldo and Hampson who is battling ongoing knee issues a younger ruck to develop help carry the load will be handy at this stage of the draft.

Tigerbob is up

I so hope that Francis Jackson consider Darcy Cameron with either our last selection or at least a Rookie spot, This kid shows so much potential that i just cant believe he hasnt been given a chance yet - Ready to go body and just needs 2 years at an afl club

With our ruck stocks at pathetic level with Hampson constantly injured and Maric on his last legs this kid is just about ready and could atleast fill a need if required.

Great Pick RT

I'm giving Bishop until 10pm to make a pick otherwise he gets the next player available. If possible I'd like to get this finished early tomorrow so that we can then have Bishop have a look at the results and see who did well and who stunk it up.

Waited long enough! My final pick follows
Port Adelaide
Bailey Rogers 184cm / 80kg
Half Back Flanker in the ilk of Chris Newman consistent, solid and reliable!
Giving Port;
Parsons- mid/Half fwd
Nyuon- Ruck
Nunn- Inside mid
Rogers- half back
With picks 38,43,72 and 78 not too bad?

What you mean great Pick up RT?We all got a PM from EAD that Cameron has quit football and is replacing Rance on the Jehovah Witness world tour.

Did I make the deadline??!! Been out all day! If not- I'll have Thomas Jok thanks! Write up to come on him and my earlier pick!

Yes you did. Luckily Port weren't taking him.

With the Tigers final pick in the draft I'm filling another need this time a young KPD to develop in case Astbury or Elton don't step up as Chaplins replacement.

Jack Firns 195cm 92kg KPD

Jack was Vic Metro full back and acquitted himself very well. A tough competitor who thrives on taking on the oppositions best KPF. In the TAC finals he broke his hand early in the prelim final but played out the game and still lined up in the Grand Final the following week. Across 12 TAC Cup games he averaged 10.4 disposals 3.4 marks 1.4 tackles & 70.4% DE. In the Champs he played 5 games 7.4 disposals 4 marks 2 tackles & 81.1% DE. As mentioned this isn't a pick with 2016 in mind, but more a development pick that in 2 years would be ready to step in and play.

Bishop gets the final pick.

Well done everybody , Was an interesting phanton and reasonable insight into what ' Might' Happen with some teams will be interesting to see how close we all go - Usually wont go anywhere near the actual draft but still fun.

Looking foward to Bishop's analysis of the clubs selections and ratings

Summary of picks:

Adelaide:

Wayne Milera 185cm 75kg Forward/Midfielder
Darcy Tucker 184cm 78kg Midfielder

A very good draft from the Crows- Looks like they'll be drafting a tall tonight. But they're both two classy players. Milera off HF & Tucker of HB would be great. (A)

Brisbane:
Joshua Schache 199cm 96kg KPF
Eric Hipwood 200cm 82kg KPP
Ben Keays 185cm 82kg Midfielder
Nick O'Kearney 181cm 71kg Midfielder
Jonothan Simpkin Hawthorn

A good haul from the Lions, but those final two make me shiver. O'Kearney at 181cm has got a lot of question marks as to what he can play at AFL Level. Geelong probably likely to punt on him with a late pick- Otherwise he may be off to the rookie draft on Friday. Don't think they need Simpkin, may as well invest in their academy kids such as Wagner & William.
(B)

Carlolton
Jacob Weitering 195cm 90kg KPD
Sam Weideman 196cm 91kg KPF
Rhys Mathieson 185cm 79kg Midfielder
Ryan Burton 190cm 85kg Forward
Jack Silvagni 190cm 81kg KPP
David Cunningham 183cm 79kg Forward/Midfielder

Easily the best haul from all of the picks in the Richmond Phantom. They've managed to get key position bookends, Burton could be anything if he stays fit (BUT- the Blues can afford a risk with Mathieson & Cunningham providing solid picks)
(A+)

Collolingwood
Daniel Rioli 180cm 69kg Forward
Davin Ferriera 174cm 74kg Forward
Declan Mountford 183cm 80kg Midfielder
Nathan Broad 191cm 83kg Defender

Collingwood look to have addressed needs for a small. I think Ferriera will go rookie- Nathan Broad has had interest as of late, but I believe it has cooled as he does have a few deficiencies. Pies really like Mountford, good endurance runner and should turn out a good player. And everyone knows what I think about Rioli, but they'd be happy with him at 30ish.
(B-)

Essendon
Darcy Parish 181cm 73kg Midfielder
Aaron Francis 190cm 86kg Utility
Josh Dunkley 189cm 85kg Midfielder
Tom Cole 186cm 80kg Defender
Tyrone Leonardis 183cm 82kg Defender

A pretty good haul from the Bombers. Parish and Francis will be very good players, Dunkley can't kick but loves the contested ball. Tom Cole could be ready to go round 1 next year. Leonardis is an underrated defender with a nice kick, but he may get to the rookie draft.
(B+)

Fremantle
Sam Skinner 197cm 96kg KPF
Jesse Glass-McCasker 196cm 91kg KPD
Michael Hartley 196cm 100kg KPD

Fremantle looking at talls, Glass-McCasker very good option was MVP at the champs. Skinner coming off an ACL probably would have gone top 30, I'm not 100% sure on Hartley. Big difference at VFL to AFL standard, I think the Dockers will look elsewhere and possibly will draft another small.
(C+)

Geelong
Nash Holmes 181cm 82kg Midfielder
Yestin Eades 184cm 82kg Midfielder
Thomas Jok 191cm 74kg Utillity
Lachie Walker 187cm 82kg Mid Oakleigh Chargers
A tough for Geelong without many picks. Nash Holmes was a steal, contested ball hard nut, someone that many clubs are interested in. Eades and Jok are likely rookies, but Geelong feel they should be able to develop to become good players. Very hard to judge this as they aren't superb players, Holmes pulls their rank up to a b-.
(B-)

Gold Coast
Charlie Curnow 191cm 95kg Utility
Mitch Hibberd 191cm 85kg Utility
Kieran Lovell 177cm 80kg Midfielder
Daniel Capiron 189cm 83kg Defender
Marcus Adams 193cm 98kg KPP
Tom Phillips 186cm 75kg Utility

Pretty good haul, the first 3 are solid players. Capiron likely to be undrafted, Marcus Adams I haven't seen enough of and Tom Phillips has a lot of question marks such as his kicking so expect him rookie

(B)

GWS
Jacob Hopper 186cm 82kg Midfielder
Matthew Kennedy 187cm 84kg Midfielder
Harry Himmelberg 192cm 84kg KPF
Blake Hardwick 181cm 79kg Forward/Midfielder

Not much more GWS can do, they'll take at least 5 picks tonight I'd say, with Flynn/Tiziani/Cornell the likely selections rather than Hardwick
(A)

Hawthorn
Kieran Collins 194cm 100kg KPD
Riley Bonner 191cm 84kg Midfielder/Defender
William Snelling 173cm 77kg Midfielder
Callum Moore 193cm 86kg KPP

Have Hawthorn ever drafted badly? Probably not- Another impressive haul from the Hawks. I can't fault this haul, but I'd still take the Blues over them just. Cal Moore is a nice prospect, but could be a bust!
(A)

Melbourne
Clayton Oliver 187cm 86kg Midfielder
Harry McKay 200cm 85kg KPF/Ruck
Stephen Tahana 183cm 77kg Defender

Clayton Oliver will be one of the best from his draft- mark my words. Harry is a nice prospect and if he was eight days older he'd be pick 1 next year. Tahana adds something to the Dees team, injecting some pace off half back.
(A)

LOLNorf
Ryan Clarke 185cm 84kg Midfielder
Luke Partington 181cm 77kg Midfielder
Wylie Buzza 198cm 97kg KPF
Andre Parella 204cm 104kg Ruckman

Mixed bag for North, two goodies & two rookie prospects. Buzza will need some time to develop, but really you can't not draft him because of his cool name. I liked him in a few of the U18 Champs games. Parella is another prospect who came from a tennis background, I'm expecting him to go in the Rookie Draft with many clubs not sure what to make of him. If they can hold off until next year, they'll look for a ruckman.
(B-)

Poort
James Parsons 189cm 75kg Midfielder
Gach Nyuen 198cm 81kg Ruckman
Matthew Nunn 180cm 76kg Midfielder
Bailey Rogers 184cm 80kg Defender

Intersting draft from Pooort. At this stage 3-4 of these guys will likely become rookies. Plenty of things I could nit pick from all of them. James Parsons has struggled a bit this year as an outside not finding a position for him. Nyuon is one of the better ruckman, but again will need time to develop. I can't see them drafting a ruckman & if they did they'd probably go home grown.
(C)

Richmond
Callum Ah Chee 182cm 74kg Forward/Midfielder
Mason Redman 186cm 77kg Utility
Darcy Cameron 204cm 101kg Ruckman
Jack Firns 195cm 92kg KPD

Nice draft from the Tigers- Unfortunately it looks like the first two will be off the board by our first two picks. But they're both going to be very good players. Darcy Cameron likely to be overlooked again, Firns is a nice prospect one-on-one but how will he go at AFL level? Likes playing on the number 1 forward, but I've seen him be beaten a few times on 2nd/3rd string forwards who aren't that good.
(B+)

Saints
Jade Gresham 177cm 74kg Midfielder
Bailey Rice 184cm 81kg Midfielder/Defender
Sam Murray 181cm 78kg Midfielder
Jock Cornell 186cm 84kg Midfielder

Saints drafting for midfielders- I'd expect them to draft a tall late. Rice is 100% off to them as a F/S player, Gresham might be available but would they go for him? Sam Murray has had some interest, but he's a bit raw. Jock Cornell is a good forward prospect, so I'd swap Murray for a tall.
(B-)

Sydney
Callum Mills 186cm 80kg Midfielder
Alex Morgan 181cm 79kg Midfielder
Greg Clark 194cm 89kg Utility
Brandon White 189cm 80kg Defender

I like these picks, but Sydney would be crazy not to go after a defender at some point. Morgan will give them some dash, Greg Clark could develop into a nice forward but I've got a few ? on whether he can play inside. Brandon White is another good HBF, but after drafting Morgan they'll probably look to finish with a tall such as Jack Firns.
(B)

WCE
Ben Crocker 185cm 81kg Midfielder
Mitch Brown 193cm 96kg KPD
Hisham Kerbatieh 177cm 77kg Forward
Sam Menegola 188cm 90kg Midfielder

I really like this lot. Despite not being high picks, they're all really good players and people I'd draft. Kerbatieh was horrible at the combine for endurance testing- But he's an X-Factor and will improve at AFL environment. Haven't seen a lot of Menegola but I expect him to be drafted. Mitch Brown a lock, but will Bombers take a punt with top 30!
(B+)

Western Bulldogs

Harley Balic 186cm 80kg Midfielder
Ben McKay 200cm 85kg KPP
Brayden Fiorini 187cm 76kg Midfielder
Kurt Mutimer 185cm 82kg Midfielder
Clint Hinchcliffe 179cm 82kg Forward[/QUOTE]

Bulldogs have drafted well for the last few years & it will continue. Balic suits them, as well as getting a KPF that they need. Fiorini had an outstanding season for Northern Knights, and his left foot is great. Mutimer should get a chance and he impressed me at the Champs. Hinchcliffe is a nice prospect probably more for the rookie draft as he'll need to work on his body size. But Gary Buckanara out of nowhere brought up his name as a smokey so continue to watch.
