hi guys, I'm just wondering how you think the club will stagger the retirement of the older players?

ie 2015
Enright

2016
Kelly
Johnson
Bartel
McIntosh
Longergan

To answer your point. There's ample cap space to fit Dangerfield into our pay structure.

Haha it's actually got nothing to do with cap space. I know Geelong have the cap space.
So back to the original question?
Enright, Rivers and McInstosh will retire, and I have an inkling that Kelly, Johnson and Bartel won't be far behind then. Maybe even next year as well.

The amount of game time a potential retiree receives will be determined by the usual factors i.e. injuries, form and team balance. This year imo will be very much about winning a flag rather than setting us up for the future. Once the season begins in earnest things will become clearer round by round.

Can I ask why you even care?

Scouting out the top 8 and wondering where they'll be in 2015-17.
Geelong will be there about's again in 2015...probably top 4 IMO, and when that eventuates, Danger is already out of contract.

He'll then be spotted soon after by the media signing a contract to play with Geelong in 2016, and making our midfield even stronger. He could possibly be standing with the playing group in the round 1 pre-match, watching the unfurling of the premiership flag.

I think your list is in poor shape if the Club has to determine that,a healthy list has young players coming from beneath forcing retirements and that's not happening quickly enough at Geelong for a variety of reasons. Hence Clark,Stanley, Blease, Delaney this year.
Has Enright said this is it for him,I thought he was traveling as well as 4 of the 5 you have ear marked for 2016.

Wow I thought Geelong supporters weren't arrogant. Maybe you're one of the rare ones.

I think Geelong will finish somewhere between 5-8. Clarke was a good pick up but a big unknown at this stage (in terms of performance/injury/mental state). I think you lost out pretty bad re getting Stanley with pick 21 (Chrustensen). I think there was greater value in draft. Also a lot will depend on Enright/Longergan/Bartel/Johnson/Mackie and whether or not they maintain their great output.

So from the outside I think your list was better in 2014 than 2015. But you guys would have a better idea.

It was a bit tongue in cheek mate.

Oh and it's either a case of sour grapes or you're preparing yourself to be wrong again. I'd have thought that people would have learnt by now...I guess they like being wrong.

PS: I'm looking forward to Stanley leaving everyone with egg on their face...mostly the ones with no idea about football such as yourself.

Sour grapes for what exactly?

Dangerfield's on his way to Geelong and it's the reason for this thread, and it's the reason you're perusing this board.

If I thought Dangerfield was definitely heading to Geelong, why would I enquire about your team's chances?
It has nothing to do with Dangerfield is definitely going to Geelong.
And for the 'egg on face' reference, you might get to know the phrase very well if Dangerfield stays at Adelaide. You're talking like it's a done deal. Arrogance.

If you are talking about 2015 I don't see how we've lost out with Stanley. Pick 21 is unlikely to have a bigger impact next year than Stanley. Long-term could be different of course.

Na what I meant was, you've effectively lost Christensen for Stanley. I know you couldn't help losing Christensen, but I think he is far better than Stanley.

Oh okay, your comment about better depth in the draft confused me. No doubt Christensen is a loss but one thing to remember is he hardly played last year and we won as many games as Hawthorn and Sydney.
