I could name a dozen times when that hasn't been true. Most notably Josh Simpson, who was dropped after 13 disposals and 5 tackles in a quarter of footy for an out of form and injured Chris Mayne.
I know it's done and dusted but I still can't help being pissed off he didn't work out.

Sorry, but if the kid is going to spit the dummy over his first setback it was only a matter of time before it happened. If he had played the next week and had a shocker then been dropped would he have reacted any better? I doubt it. His heart was not fully in his football and this just exposed that fact.

Let's all move on.

That's one. I await 11 more.

Or more likely, you are full of shit.

Clearly there were issues with Josh Simpson that we were not aware of, and the club was. And one good quarter was not going to gloss over that. Plus he was still meant to be getting on the plane for crying out loud. How could anyone predict the dummy spit?

Alex Silvagni likes this post.

Remember the gnashing of teeth when Dawson got a gig ahead of Silvagni? Embarrassing, wasn't it. Then when Silvagni did finally get an opportunity, the same posters turned on him, because he didn't meet their unreasonable expectations.

Tendai's game as sub was better than both of MDB's games as sub in the first two rounds and Suban has played one good game out of four so far. Really can't agree about the incumbents being so stellar, Clems Knee.

Well I didn't say stellar.
But I also don't agree with you regarding Matt de Boer. His first game in particular was pivotal. He had more tackles in less than a quarter than anyone else for the game. Remember?

And Suban has had more than one good game. The knives were out after the first game, but only because the normal mouth breathers couldn't have a go at Danyle Pearce. After that first game he has been very good, especially early when the games have been won, (and later for the Geelong game.

Ok, here's another.

Sheridan was dropped in round 14 last year for Colin Sylvia who had an impressive 3 touches as the sub the week before.

Anything involving Sylvia is suspect I agree. At the time, he was still the tubby white hope.

I also remind you about Lyon's comments regarding Sheridan over the preseason. "The penny has dropped" I think were the words. Funnily enough, you can look back to the round 1 thread and read complaints about Sheridan getting a game.

Just because we have ideas about who is best 22, doesn't mean we are right. We do not have all the background information needed to make those assessments. The best we can do is keep on eye on interviews and injury reports, watch the training sessions or read training reports, and watch the games (not just read the stats page).
We should also be aware that situations change from season to season (really preseason) and from week to week.
Clancee is a case in point. Lyon famously got him to lose his fat arse. Last year he had a poor preseason due to injury and never really got himself right. Back to peak fitness, Pearce is in the team.

I digress. I await 10 more.

Yep, will acknowledge MDB's first game was on par if not better than Tendai's sub performance. Probably unfair to throw his name in there, my issue is more with Suban. Not sure I'm willing to discuss it further with you though if you think any criticism of Suban was from "mouth breathers", evidently yourself and more importantly Ross Lyon disagree with me so I won't take that particular thought further.

I do think Mzungu is a much, much better footballer than Nic Suban though and I don't know what more he could have done this year other than not get injured to secure a spot in the side; something that he's been able to do for the previous three years. He's one of my favourites and his omission has left me feeling pretty disappointed. That's just how I feel on the matter, apologies if that makes me intellectually deficient.

There you go putting words in my mouth again.
Surely you can see that the mouth breather insult was to those who were attacking Danyle Pearce? It's a great term, on a par with window licker. Sorry if you think it's directed at you.

As to Suban: by the end of their careers, we will probably agree that Suban was not as good as Mzungu. But that's not how weekly selections work, is it? For now, Suban is providing intense, aggressive competition in close, together with very good passing by foot, and is not giving away too many frees, primarily because he has cut out playing for frees from his game this year (especially after round one). In these areas, he is playing very well, and would play better than Mzungu. Obviously running all day, blanketing a player and providing a link and goal scoring option are more Tendai's strengths.

This is going to be a long season. We all know Mzungu will get his chance to consolidate his position. A few weeks won't hurt him. As long as he isn't as precious as some of his fans.

PS remember when posters on this board criticised Mzungu for having "pencil thin" arms and he couldn't stick a tackle? All on the basis of one incident. That was bullshit too. Some of us like to have things to complain about.
Clearly I like to complain about the complainers.

If they trained today will they be there again tomorrow ( Thursday ) ?

Yeah it's a Saturday game so Thursday is the main session. They did Wednesday/Thursday before the Sydney game IIRC.

Got down to training at 9am but no one on the ground and no padding on the goal post but the bins full of footballs were on the ground so I went and got coffee .Sure enough when I got back at 9.45 the players were on the ground just doing some messing about hand balling to each other .
RTB called the players together and gave them a talking too . I wasn't close enough to hear what was said but the players were very quiet and hanging on his every word .
Pav and Son Son were practicing goal kicking as were quite a few others .Hill was displaying some fancy footwork with a football doing a very good soccer like things with his magic left foot .

Now for an insight to who will play and in what teams the first group did not include Crozier ,Mzungu ,Sheridan ,Duffy or Dawson .
The second group out on the ground did include those players as well as Grey , Weller , Blakley ,Moller ,Hurley ,Deluca ,Ballard ,Dawson ,Hughes , Smith ,Griffin Alex Pearce and Ed langdon .
From this I would say that Pav and Walters will play against Essendon unless something goes wrong .

Still no signs on Apeness? Wasn't he concussed a few weeks ago?
