A thread on the main board got me thinking (in before, that would be a first).
Anyway, it was discussing coaching contracts, it made me think about the season ending 2016 where we will likely hit a major shift.
- Brad Scott's current contract will come to an end.
- In the midfield Harvey (38/39), Dal Santo (32/33) and Wells (31/32) could all be retiring/retired, while Gibson will be 30.
- Our long-time full forward Petrie (34) will have hung up his boots you'd suggest.
- Our CHB Grima (31) would likely have retired while Thompson would be hitting 30.
While it's a no brainer that teams get older and lists evolve through the draft; it seems an interesting juncture for Scott's current contract to expire as we will be a very different team post this date and must rely on some young players, particularly key position prospects to come on in a big way.
Is 2016 the last hurrah for success with this group, or will the next generation led by Ziebell, Cunnington, Goldstein, Hansen, Thomas, Atley and Black keep us truly competitive without falling away?
