TAC Team of the year

FB - Romensky - Patullo - Blakey
HB - McGrath - Maibaum - Duman
C - Drew - Clarke - Atley
HF - Venables - Battle - Taranto
FF - Blair - Kerr - Fowler
Foll - Filipovic - McCluggage - Brodie

Inter - Cousins - Sam Hayes - Worpel - Begley - Brown - Bunker
Geez, Lachlan Murphy was stiff! Not sure Blakey or Cal Brown did anything he didn't, or even Brodie was lucky to make it. Thought Lachlan Walker may have been in with a shot - super-consistent all year round as an overager.

Scrimshaw looked good up forward and on the wing today. Picked up a stack of the ball, although he wasn't that effective by foot. I'd rather others personally.

Can see the appeal of Taranto. Wasn't doing much up forward up to half time, moved into the middle which got Sandringham going and kicked a nice goal in the 3rd. Stepped up in important moments.

Gallucci was pretty good.

Great game and a great win by Sandy. Was impressed with the quality of the match.
Jaidyn Stepheson BOG with 4 goals, looks a very handy mid sized forward. I wonder where he will go next season.

I'd imagine fairly high, he seems to deliver in finals footy (last year he was great too). McGrath had to go to him half way through the 3rd quarter. He didn't kick a goal after that, but still had an influence on the game.

Ari Sakeson does some good things.
He's worth keeping an eye on. Has good athletic traits, but is a bit short for a key position defender.

McMullan is another worth keeping an eye on. Overager, looks much improved on what I saw last year especially in regards to his endurance.

What was Scrimshaw like as a forward? Does he show any decent forward craft?

He was more then decent, moved into a lot of the right spots. He could've easily had 3 goals in a half if his kicking was on. His delivery inside 50 wasn't too good either. He did his best work through the midfield and off half back when he was there though.

Blakey does things that disposal numbers don't really show. He is the one always barking instructions and holding the defense together. Brown had a pretty good champs and that comes into account ditto Brodie.

Like Lachlan Murphy but probably didn't play enough games to be picked given he was playing school footy for most of the year. More surprised by the lack of Jordan Ridley.

Like Taylin Duman getting picked in the team really rate him.

Morrish Medal count seemed to show how highly Blakey's rated, with 8 games he polled in. I get that reputation plays a part for selection, but I don't really think champs form should be adjudged alongside TAC Cup form, in the cases of Brodie and Brown. Agree regarding Ridley and Duman.

I believe I'll start with Jonty Scharenberg, because I don't think he is a player that has got too many mentions in this thread & somehow I think he'll be the least favoured of my picks.
That's only due to so many of us being wary of the Bulldog brother's curse.

Sexton, Bowden, Power, Talia, Everitt, Rawlings, etc etc

Well they count in U18 champ form whether we like it or not.

Blakey won what basically is a Community/Leadership award and Romensky was the Jets nominee, like seeing the nominees and overall winner for things like this cause it shows you who the hard workers/good blokes are.
It'll be quite something if he somehow goes worse than Matt
Would he get a game given he is a very inside mid? Probably not above a good half dozen on our list right now. Would rather use later picks on midfield depth.

Surprised that James Cousins didn't get more votes. Had a really good year at the Bushies.
Yeah well last year's result was interesting, Oliver really bolted up the order after that. McCluggage is already up there. Goy Lok was the interesting name up there for most of the night. Cousins still made team of the year which is a good achievement. Noticed Worpel was team of the year and also polled quite well, was super at the champs as a bottom ager so most likely a top 5 pick next season at this stage. Love the way he plays. Lots of Rory Sloane from what I saw.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to insinuate that we should draft him. Agree that there are far better options for us.

Why can't Matthew be the cursed brother in this instance? I mean he has been injured for most part of his AFL career, also I don't believe in curses or superstitions.

Zach Guthrie is going to an interesting one. Like his work on different types defensively and he is a beautiful kick.

Don't believe in curses or superstitions unless it is about the extent of our injury list this year :(

I also like young Atley as well, but not enough to be a favorite :D

One strange superstition I've never understood is when people touch the screens of pokie machines to decide whether they'll pay out or not or carry something like an orange to the tables at a casino.

I always say that there is one sure way to make money every time you go to the casino & that's to get a job there

We need to get McGregor just so we have a player with the name Brock on our list :p

On a serious note though he is one that I'd not be surprised if we did select seem to want mobile ruck/forwards.
