As a new BFer, I thought I'd have a go at starting a thread. Mods feel free to do your thang is this has been done or belongs somewhere else!

Looking to 2016 - what are some of the markers/achievements that will leave you satisfied enough at the end of the season that we are heading in the right direction?

For me:

-Less 2nd quarter drop offs
-Winning against teams placed around us
-More muscle on bones

Thanks!

if we get who there is talk were going to get, ie. schache, keys, hipwood, bell, jansen virtual certanties and then maybes casboult, anderson, whitecross, william and chol. i think minimum 8 to 10 wins with a reasonable run with injuries.

3-3 after the first 6 (should have a great draw, I'm sick of these rubbish starts) - minimum 9 wins for the season. Continued effort and improvement from a young team is all we ask.

I hold grave fears for our team and coach this year, but I'm hoping to be proven wrong.

  • An injury rate below the league average.
  • Have the majority of our midfield group all firing at the same time.
  • Our young talls get some more meat on their bones, Clarke has a breakout season. Andrews avoids second year blues.
  • 8-12 wins.
  • Cutting down on successive goals scored against us; stem the roll on of the best teams.
  • Keep our membership numbers over 25,000
  • Re-sign key players like Mayes, Martin and Rich on long term contracts.
  • Mature bodies like Astbury and Casboult add to our forward structure.
  • Keep Leppa regardless, have a defined direction.
  • Get our new facilities done and dusted.

Thrashing the scum teams too

30+ thousand, round 1 vs Collingwood, Brisbane wins after Beams tackles Aish in the goal square, HTB is called and he kicks truly.

Round 2 Brisbane beat the Hawks after Jed Anderson destroys the older Hawks with 25 disposals and 4 goals.

I can dream lol

Hi all. Personal satisfaction markers for me would be:
  • None of our highly rated youngsters stagnating or going backwards
  • A 7-10 win season on the back of less injuries and greater team continuity
  • More midfield goals, and two of our actual forwards kicking 30+ goals each
  • More positive media, or at least balanced narratives from Melbourne media when discussing our club issues as compared to other comparable clubs (i.e. not everything is completely our fault and mean we should be set on fire and hit with sticks)

  • Evidence that any culture issues, if there are truly culture issues, are resolved with coach, players, and welfare department making big strides towards a harmonious group and small steps towards making us a destination club again
  • No trade requests from players we consider to be required players at season's end

Good idea for a thread.

For me, positive stuff all year:
  • a solid start to the season
  • young players developing in leaps and bounds and showing real potential
  • our forward line issues well on the way to being solved for the next decade
  • some good re-signings throughout the year
  • a couple of Rising Star nominations
  • a couple of our players becoming elite
  • competitive in all games and a real chance of winning in at least half of them
  • 8 wins or better and some close hard-fought losses against top teams that are great learning experiences for our young guys
  • great news out of the club about the positive vibe around the place
  • definite news on our future world class facilities
  • a couple of great upset wins that have everyone talking about us as a club heading up
  • a game plan that looks dangerous and only needs our young players to keep developing before it scares the hell out of the competition
  • new draftees settling in well and loving the place
  • players traded in making an immediate impact and talking the Lions up
  • our 2016 academy players shining and looking like future stars of the game
  • our biggest crowds in a decade coming back to the Gabba
  • a great finish to the season with the players itching to get into the 2017 preseason, with finals beckoning.
Not too much to ask for.

To not be out of the finals discussion yet at the bye. Not saying we need to be in the eight, just not season over like we've had for years in a row.

I remember back in 2010/11 etc, we were getting beaten, but we seemed to be a lot better at tackling and harassing the opposition. I hope that becomes our strength next year. Want to see our side push up into the top 10 in the comp in key areas like contested ball, clearances or tackling. Whenever the commentators highlight those key stats, we're always between 16 and 18.
