Right so it will work as it has in previous years however i get pissed off with the 24 hour rule and instead you will get 12 hours to choose your allocated (by the pure randomness of an internet generator) player. Once you have chosen your player please tag whoever is up next. I will update the list of those who have signed up shortly.

Alright so we currently have enough for 1 mock draft, lets see if we can get the numbers for a second. If we don't have many more signups in the next day or so then we will run one with these people and look to have another closer to the date with those who missed out being the first in and then going back to the rankings to fill the numbers again.

If anyone has any disputes or wants anything changed (ie, you have a better way of doing it) then please let me know!

So are we acting as clubs here or just picking based on our own rankings?

We will be acting as clubs. The rankings were to make sure long time posters made the cut. However if people would prefer rather than doing clubs we could just all pick in order of our rankings. Obviously if we go clubs some people are going to be really pissed by getting hawthorn etc. etc. where as by going by rankings everyone gets to make 4 picks.

If you're doing two drafts maybe just have 17 posters in each and forget about allocating Hawthorn?

You could allocate clubs but have the draft order as pre trade period?

Looking forward to getting stuck into this over the weekend.

WCE_phil based on rankings would I get pick 10 or is the order/ club alignment randomised from the 18 names?

Going to do a randomised order. Will do a trial run with 17 clubs starting once i've done the randomising (it'll be up shortly). Whoever randomly gets hawthorn unfortunately misses out.

Will be running a second mock draft based on poster age/post count ranking as well. For all those interested in posting in either of the mock draft types please continue to signup. Now that footy season has finished until the national draft happens and i have some spare time on my hands i'll keep these as active as possible to try and provide some time sink for all of those interested. If people could also please try and provide a player write up for each player it would be greatly appreciated (if you don't want to write your own / don't follow the juniors and national champs then just steal one from TradeDraft , Nightmare or Chris25 )

getgaff you are up.

Pick 1: ESSENDON – Hugh McCLUGGAGE

Position: Outside Midfielder – CLUB: North Ballarat Rebels – VIC COUNTRY
Height: 185 cm, Weight 75 kg.

This is only a very small snippet of his game but shows that even as a bottom ager in 2015 that he was prepared to take the game on and that in traffic or in space he had the composure to hit targets when some other bottom agers may have appeared rushed.

I'm in the fortunate position of holding pick 1 and although the Bombers could do with some added grunt in contested ball (Will Brodie) I'm not ballsy enough to use the first pick on needs based when the best available player in the draft is live.

Trying to keep it short and sweet McCluggage ticks the boxes necessary for a more outside midfielder and goal kicking half forward early in his career and would form an integral part of the future Bombers midfield with young guns like Darcy Parish, Zach Merrett and potentially Jayden Laverde (once he puts some size on) to name a few.

McCluggage's draft year has seen him continually rated highly amongst peers and AFL club recruiters racking up the ball in big numbers at both TAC Cup (Morrish Medal winner, averaged 29 touches a game and kicked 23 goals) and in the Under 18 championships when he was named Vic Country's MVP.

Hugh is a one touch player - clean and doesn't fumble, has the necessary game smarts, is a fast thinker with the ball in hid hand which is a trait that will develop his inside game further and for a midfielder he hits the scoreboard regularly.

That scoreboard hitting impact gives him a distinct point of difference over other top end midfield draft prospects and creates an opportunity for him to play as a high or deeper half forward/ outside midfielder early in his seniors career.

Not fair. I have to wait till pick 47 for the draft :'(:'(.
Damn you melbourne for trading the second rounder for hibberd.

A bit of a reach here? Perhaps. But I think this kid could be the next in the Bont, Fyfe mould of tall midfielders to make a big impact on the competition. The other options at this pick are very good prospects but I think Scrimshaw is the only one that offers them something they don't already have.

PICK 2 - GWS - JACK SCRIMSHAW

Tall and rangy, Scrimshaw offers a good sense of composure - watching his highlights, I get the feeling he's one of those players that seems to have more time than most. Has a very nice left foot and his versatility is also an enticing attribute, though as I have said I believe his best position long term will be in the midfield. A genuine big game player that will take the competition by storm. I suspect in the real draft he will be a Sun in the Top 10.

Pick 3 Brisbane Lions- Will Brodie

brodie.jpg

Height: 189cm
Weight: 82kg

Once touted as a possible number 1 draft pick, Brodie has fallen down the ranks a bit in recent times but he still has the potential to be the best midfielder from this draft.

A tall and strong midfielder excels in clearance situations and is seen as quite versatile. In a time where the tall midfielder is god tier, Brodie will certainly be a valuable get for any club that decides to take him...err I mean for Brisbane. He is supremely competitive in that more often than not he will get first hands on the ball but if not, he is known for his ability to press and pressure the ball carrier, so he runs both ways.

Brodie has the tendency to go the old much loved blind snap out of the pack without looking so that is something that he could certainly work on. He has also kicked just 5 goals in 9 games of TAC Cup therefore scoreboard pressure is not one of his strengths and he needs to find the goals more often.

Any club would be happy with Brodie and he for sure won't last past the top 5 of the real draft. Destined to be an elite midfielder.
