Fair bit of dependence on pokies in those figures for some clubs.

I am glad we don't but imagine if the WA teams were allowed pokies... especially the Eagles. It is already pretty much a money printing machine without them.
Does anyone know West Coast's revenue and profits if you exclude Chardonnay sales?

Where is the GWS, Sydney North Melb Adelaide Port Power etc data

Where is the GWS, Sydney North Melb Adelaide Port Power etc data
I imagine GWS distribution from the AFL would be at least the same as Gold Coast... surely it isn't feasible to have them two, three Vic clubs ( I would assume North would be the same) above 15m per year. AFL dist should be even for every club... or at least they do it as is for a fixed period then change it to all equal distribution.

Collingwood has the fans; we have the prices. WA punters being ****** over.

The small attendance of Subiaco would have made this a lot worse, plus the ratio of 3 games membership\pet membership vs 11 game membership.

I believe the SA\WA team have a larger percentage of 11 game membership than the Vic teams.

Would we have to pay rent for this season, to the WAFC, even though they don't own the stadium? Like a franchise fee? 4.6m last season is excessive. But imagine that would be for the Subi Oval rent, 80% of it?

The fee will be called something else but it will be there, it's the cost of the WAFC owning our licence.

Rent is about 60-65% I believe

Fremantles report says the amount paid is calculated on fremantles stadium revenues - so inclusive of its events, signage, and other revenues. The report also says that from 2018 on the agreement is applicable to the license only - theyd be paying rent direct to Optus Stadium and its operators.

Fremantle dont specify it, but according to West Coasts report they pay a royalty of
  • 70% of profit up to $1,000,000
  • 60% of profit between $1-2 million
  • 50% of profit over $2 million
  • minimum royalty of 1.7m
  • maximum royalty of 2.3m

Owning our license? I'm sure by now the Fremantle members/board of directors/CEO can all put a case forward to own the club outright. WAFC just shouldn't be taking profits, tbh.

The WAFC owns the licence to both West Coast and Fremantle, as the SA football body owns Adelaide and Port Adelaide. All four are the only non-AFL owned licences and both competitions are not funded by the AFL.

So if you had paid millions for your licences, the AFL weren't guaranteeing funding for your WAFL league or development and the ground you own is no longer going to be used by both your clubs each week then your cash will dry up quick.

From a Fremantle perspective we should own our own licence, keep our profits and build a bit of an empire.

Alternatively the WAFC should be awarded priority picks to keep their teams strong, which keeps them profitable, which keeps the WAFL development strong and means the AFL don't have to pay for the WAFL, as they do for the VFL, TSL, NEAFL etc.

I've said it before but a 2nd round pick at the end of the first to take any WA developed player each year would do fine.

WC killing it. All that profit and no AFLW team though and Lathain is a joke compared to Cockburn. Money can't buy everything I guess (seems to go a fair way into buying the maggots though).

The WAFC owns the licence to both West Coast and Fremantle, as the SA football body owns Adelaide and Port Adelaide. All four are the only non-AFL owned licences and both competitions are not funded by the AFL.

The SANFL no longer own AFL licenses, havent since 2014. Adelaide's AFL licence has been released for $11.326 million, while Port Adelaide will pay $6.985 million. Adelaide at least will pay theirs off over 15 years. In the meantime, the AFL appoints the board with Adelaide at least specifying a release date of 2028.

The AFL in turn guaranteed 45 million in funding to the SANFL.

So if you had paid millions for your licences, the AFL weren't guaranteeing funding for your WAFL league or development and the ground you own is no longer going to be used by both your clubs each week then your cash will dry up quick.

Not how the SA experience is working at present.
