What kind of player is Jacob Smith? Likely draft range?

Midfielder? Inside, outside? Any idea of his height at this age?Bottom age so same year as West. Hard to tell where he will go atm.
Here are his stats for last year, not really mind blowing but stats don't really tell you much.
Does look like an outside player with lots of handball receives and uncontested marks.
Jacob Smith

Argh, sorry the table didn't format properly but if you search his name you'll find it.
Also be was mentioned in an article a while back
Smith, a Banyule Junior Football Club product, racked up 19 disposals in one of positives from the match after starting in the forward line before being shifted to the midfield.
He was also one of the side's three individual goal-kickers on the day.
"He ended up playing predominantly in the middle in the latter three quarters and was able to get his hands on it and use it really well which was pleasing for a first-gamer," Bello said of the 17-year-old.
Wrong Jacob Smith. He is Jet not a Knight and is a Williamstown Junior.

Jacob Smith - (2018 Draft)So Smith and West are both in next years draft class?
Jacob Smith - (2018 Draft)
Rhylee West - (2018 Draft)
West is set to be a top 10 draft pick, Smith unsureHave not followed this closely. Are they any good?
What I see in him is a guy that will easily develop the defensive side of playing forward. Sides that set up a serious forward press could do a lot worse than trying to develop him. Would slot in to that sort of system easily enough so long as he becomes a little more poised with ball in hand.Skills are a bit...
But he does seem to move really well
Actually had a chance to do placement at the Northern Knights for my maths degree but I'd already accepted one at a VFL club (sadly Footscray not on the list). Could have kept an eye on Coffield and Petruccelle (amongst others) had it happened.Nick Coffield (18 games, ave. 13 disposals in 2016): “Nick’s an intercept-marking, rebounding backman with very good speed and agility. He has a really good, long, penetrating right foot. We’re probably going to challenge him to be the best intercept, rebounding backman in the TAC Cup this year. He’s always played footy but he’s also been a pretty high-level basketball player as well. He goes to school at the footy factory out at Whitefriars where he’s the football captain – he also has good leadership skills.”
Jack Petruccelle (two games, four goals in 2016): “Jack’s really exciting and has incredible athleticism. He was in the AIS Academy for basketball but has set his sights on football in 2017. He’ll probably play as a half forward type of player who can get up the ground and then use his pace to find space and really take the game on. He’s been working on developing his game sense and his kicking in the off-season and we’re really excited to see what he can do at TAC Cup level.”
Lachlan Fogarty (five games, ave. 24 disposals and eight tackles in 2016): “Lachie’s very highly skilled, an excellent decision-maker, and really, really competitive. He needs to build a bigger tank but certainly has a capacity to get to where the ball is around the ground. He was our best player in his 16-year-old season in 2015 when he represented Vic Metro. He’s also a member of the AFL Academy.”
Tristan Xerri (11 games, 13 goals, ave. seven disposals, two marks and 11 hitouts in 2016): “Tristan’s a late developer – we picked him up halfway through 2016. He’s over 200cm tall, a good athlete, very mobile, excellent below his knees and very capable over his head. He can not only get it in the air but also on the ground so he’s going to be a bit of an all-rounder, and at that height with the potential to grow a little bit more, we think he’ll be someone that’s right in contention.”
From the posts I made above these guys sound similar to players we have liked over the last few years. Will have to keep an eye on them all.

Is that DOB right because that would make him draft eligible this year? Also 187cm![]()

How many in Hawthorn's academy? Seems like it's only them I ever see with Next Gen Academy players.Gippsland Power Preview.

TOP 2017 NAB AFL DRAFT PROSPECTS:
Tyrone Hayes (five games, three goals, ave. 12 disposals in 2016): “Tyrone’s a small, quick indigenous player who can play off half back, in the midfield or up forward. He has very good evasive skills and uses the ball really well. He’s in Hawthorn’s Next Generation Academy and the AFL Academy as well.”
Aidan Quigley (10 games, ave. 12 disposals in 2016): “Aidan’s probably been more of a small/medium-sized forward previously but we’ll see him push into the midfield this year. He’s got a very good sidestep and he’s good overhead. He’s in the AFL Academy.”
Changkuoth Jiath (10 games, ave. 11 disposals and four tackles in 2016): “CJ’s very skilful with a great kick on the left and right foot, and he has elite endurance. He can play anywhere on the ground so he’s very versatile. He’s of Ethiopian background and fits into the Next Generation Academy with Hawthorn. He’s also in the AFL Academy.”
POTENTIAL SURPRISE PACKETS:
Austin Hodge (15 games, 17 goals, ave. 10 disposals and four tackles in 2016): “Austin’s about 190/191cm and he could play forward and midfield. He has nice clean hands and he’s got a bit of X-factor about him. He played about three quarters of last year but was a bit hindered by a hip injury, so he’s had some surgery and he’s building back into his training now.”
Nick Hogan (13 games, ave. 13 disposals in 2016): “Nick’s probably more of a genuine midfielder. He’s about 180cm but he’s got big, strong, powerful leg speed and breaks away from contests. He’s a real ball-winner. He missed some games in the middle of last year through injury so that certainly put a big hole in his season.”
CONFIRMED OVER-AGE PLAYERS:
Will Leslie (15 games, ave. 17 disposals and four tackles in 2016): “Will’s about 193/194cm and can play in the midfield, back line or forward line, so we think he’s very versatile. He’s got lightning speed and is a very good kick. He had an interrupted pre-season last year and didn’t play any practice games, but he’s had a good pre-season up to this point. He’ll be used mainly through the midfield this year – he had a taste in there last year which was probably the first time he’s played in the midfield, so he’s learnt a lot and we expect him to really improve.”
Sean Masterson (pictured - 18 games, ave. 10 disposals and three marks in 2016): “Sean can play as a key forward and key defender. Last year was his first in the program so it was a really steep learning curve for him. He started last year as a forward and finished the season as a back, and he’ll probably start up forward again this year.”
Julian Patterson (five games, ave. five disposals and 13 hitouts in 2016): “It was Julian’s first year in the program last year. He’s got a great vertical jump and is athletically very gifted for a guy of 203cm. He’s the brother of Eleanor who represented Australia at the Rio Olympics in the high jump. He was involved in basketball and athletics as a junior.”
