You'd have better luck convincing them to coordinate with PTV to get a few extra trams on the #19 line if required, the only problem being where the tram would be able to change tracks so close to Brunswick and Sydney roads. Maybe a couple of trains at Jewell too. Just wouldn't be worth the bus hire fee compared to the likely income of the match attendance. There are no real curtain raisers for us in 2017 but plenty of double headers for the really committed supporters to enjoy.
Wouldn't be a bad idea for the club to offer free transportation for supporters who head to Ikon Park before senior games at Etihad and the MCG.
They could also arrange for those who won't be going to watch the Carlton game at Ikon with the ground available for kick-to-kick.

The Richmond match is a curtain raiser, but remember we've dropped our Etihad numbers this year, which is the only place a curtain raiser was going to fly in terms of our own home games.
I'm upset that the club aren't thinking about how they can livestream the VFL games, even if they're only going to operate via one camera with the single commentator. Sure there's some VFL/AFL licensing issues, but they would be incredibly minor, and no one's asking for every game to be covered.
Someone needs to re-task the Carlton Media team when they're collecting game tape at these games, and I'm sure the NB socmed team would help out with commentating duties.
They have a minimum of two cameras set up at every home game, all they need to do is put the feed online with a simple overlay and connect a mic.The media team would love to do live streaming I'm sure, but spending money on the VFL team apart from players isn't a high priority for the club. There is a third party that offers clubs the chance to do it, but the reports are it doesn't cope with the traffic that well and people tend to switch off after a minute. You have to remember that without Carlton tipping in the dollars the club barely has enough money to attract decent players, so they just don't have the resources to live stream.

With today's technology, it's incredibly simple to do, and the extra cost would be minimal. Honestly, I think no one would complain if it was just a raw feed of the main camera.
They're contractually required to use Telstra's CDN, which is massive and would cope fine with the <2000 users who would probably tune in (let's not kid ourselves). It can't cope with any sort of web traffic though, which is the problem.

All they need to be able to do is upload 3-6 mbit video to Telstra's servers, which they can do at Ikon via wifi, and at Preston via 4G on Telstra's network; the CDN handles it from there, and this is a CDN that would be servicing upwards of 50,000 concurrent users for the AFL.It's been tried before by other clubs and failed - Richmond and Collingwood tried it and the feedback they gave was that it didn't cope with the web traffic.

Presumably any action taken by a Carlton staff member falls under the AFL rights agreement unless otherwise stated? The AFL club is contractually obliged, the VFL club is not. Telstra is not the web/digital rights holder for the VFL.

So they'd need to be on the VFL payroll for the role.
If you're right, that puts the clubs' capacity to broadcast to bottom basement prices, with a level of scalability that is literally global. In this instance it wouldnt matter who they work for. The club is not obliged to post VFL related material through the Telstra network, Telstras rights dont cover it.
Cmon even the bloody NRC rugby matches are streamed. One camera, no commentary. It's mega!
They do audio only with one broadcast, and one special commentator.Yeah surely it can't be that hard.
IIRC Collingwood do this for their VFL team.
Normally 20 bucksHow much are NB memberships this year ? Probably won't go to many games, but i feel obliged to try financially support them, i know its an entirely different situation to ours, but i feel really bad Frankston went under.
I suspect wiithin 10 years, we will have a nationwide AFL Reserves league where you'll see us play Peel Thunder and Port Magpies (for example)
