Had eight tackles and six clearances playing as an inside mid.
Surprised to see he's already 80 kilos at 183 cm tall (the same height as his dad and only 8kg lighter). He looked much lighter than that when he came up and trained with the club not too long ago I reckon.

Good to him playing as the inside mid. The encouraging thing about him is that his outside game is decent too.

Can a player asked not to be drafted to the NGA Academy they’re aligned to, I guess in the roundabout way Marc Murphy elected not to be a F/S for the Lions. I appreciate that really isn’t a like for like example but more so in theory?

Feeling a little skeptical. If he is good why is he playing at such a low level? Is he decent relative to a large round draft pick or legitimately good?

He graduated last year with a very high ATAR. His school coach said he lacked fitness and that he'd also been playing tennis. Perhaps footy hadn't been his main focus until this year.

You'd suspect if he is drafted it would be a very speculative pick late in the draft or as a rookie selection.

Unless our club don't rate him at all I'd be grabbing Casey Voss as a rookie. I can just see it, the Swans or anyone for that matter take a chance and turn him into one of their many rookie successes.

I'm not sure about NGA academies, but you can't opt out for our's unless it's for a different sort of prelisting, e.g. father/son.

Yeah Jackess has pretty much nailed it. I’m not saying he’s first round pick by any means. But since making football his main focus, he’s starting to make good improvement.

Also relevant to ask if young Voss would want to come to us given how things ended with his Dad. I know he has trained with us but then again so did Blakey.

This is such an overblown concern. Vossy's legacy at the club is magnitudes bigger than a few years of Angus Johnson fumbling at the wheel.

With Casey likely to be a late draft or rookie selection, if selected he would jump at any chance he is given if footy is what he is passionate about.

I wasn't questioning his father's legacy. The club no doubt still honours him. But he may well feel differently.

I think you missed my point.

My thinking was in regards to say if Charlie Cameron’s brother wanted to give himself the opportunity to play for someone other than West Coast (yes a massive hypothetical of (a) the Lions wanting him; and (b) his brother actually getting through to one of our picks and the possibility of being drafted anywhere else) and whether it was doable.

There was a recent article from a South Australian paper (can't remember where) in which he mentioned that he would like to play for Brisbane but would be happy playing anywhere.

And you misinterpreted mine.

Nah, I didn't. I'm saying that the Vosses would know that their connection to the Brisbane Lions is infinitely richer than that of a temporary suit like Angus Johnson.

95 percent of coaching jobs end with you being told you are no longer required. It was handled badly but the legacy is worth much more than that.

They would be thrilled to see him carry on in his father's footsteps.

Can we opt out of the apostrophe in ours? The word is already possessive and apostrophes are never drafted to ours. Just saying, no offence intended.

N'o worr'ies.

Thanks for the links Jason, a lot of us appreciate stuff like that. It makes following the draft a lot easier

I think what Rankine said in the video is not all that unusual, said he was a Crows fan, and Adelaide was his home, like to stay BUT whatever happens happens.

Plenty of draftees have said versions of the same theme over the years and been happy elsewhere. Unless he blatantly says at draftee interviews that he does not want to go interstate (as has been rumored re Wingard and D.Fogarty) I'd be taking him if we rate him at our pick.
