On the latest Road To the Draft podcast Cal mentioned something like Corbett had 'nominated' us. I'm not sure if that's how it works, but perhaps he's told Carlton not to draft him? In any case that's a good get for us. Along with Collins if available, I would also take Pickett. But there's also guys like Maguire to consider.

Grigg an interesting call. An absolute gun at SANFL but his father is quite ill with a terminal disease. Unsure if he wants to leave SA.
Warning: Wild speculation
I'd imagine that these guys would essentially be free agent-like rather than the five total selections being in a draft format - ie Corbett might have an offer from each of GCFC and CFC, and its then up to him on which he takes up, then the club that doesn't have its offer taken up moves on to the next target.

May to Melbourne in a 3 way deal with Hogan to Freo is gaining traction, which could see pick 5 or 6 heading our way

**** freo.. play hardball they poached 2 for Weller last year.

We want 5 or no deal.

Imagine the talent that can be drafted with picks 2, 3 and 6? Plus whatever other picks you guys have and end up with. Can do similar to what Carlton did in the 2015 draft. Add a Mitch Grigg mature pick type or two to that would be fantastic for the Suns moving forwards.

I was wondering how the selection process would work with Carlton having two players and us three. Your suggestion seems to make good sense, otherwise it would be something like

1. Carl 2. GCS 3. Carl 4. GCS 5. GCS - which doesn't seem balanced to me, or

1. GCS 2. Carl 3. GCS 4. Carl 5. GCS - which I like more :)

Curious as to why that doesn't seem balanced to you?

Is it just the optics of picks 4 & 5, or you have your Suns glasses on and want the first pick.

Can't see anything wrong with wanting the best for your supporting club .

Interested to see if anyone has done a big board of the mature age talent.

Obviously just been following who the Suns are interested in, but there is another team that has access to the same players, so anyone have an idea which mature aged players Carlton are being linked with.

Does it work pick for pick? Or is it more free agent sign them. Sign them between club and player ie: us and Carlton both want say Grigg, then it's up to him to pick who he wants to sign with? Or do we pick them up at the rookie draft?
* The club would have the right to pre-list three (3) players who have previously nominated or been eligible for the Draft or were previously listed with an AFL Club prior to the upcoming 2018 NAB AFL Draft (this right can be on-traded).

Thanks. . Missed that, so presumably doesn't go carlton, gc, Carlton etc.... we can simply sign them if they're keen to come ?

I think it was looking at them in discrete groups of 2.
the first group of two Carlton go first, so second group of two Suns should go first. so C, GC, GC, C, GC - little suns glassesish

I still think it wont take a draft form anyway

I still think the Afl should have awarded GC a PP

The Suns board really should be hitting the afl hard for the following help

5 extra list spots for state league players with $1mil extra cap space

Band 1 PP to get a group of young talent to kick start the club and with the mature players have the kids coming through together in 2-3 years time

Its the only way this club can have a serious shot at organically growing into the club tha Afl wants it to become

Perhaps we could find a buyer for him at Port or Crows? I’d like to keep 2 and trade 1.

Three mature age state league players :D

I don’t really know my way around the draft and list rules etc just like watching football and following stats so this might be a bit off the mark.. but

We could pre list Pickett Collins and Corbett

Take 4 18 year olds and then hopefully bailey Scott with 29?

The extra rookie spots comimg in handy for koenen and graham (if we think he’s AFL quality)

Do we have the space to do that?

Do we want to bring on 3-4 state leaguers + miles, ghs and Ellis (basically state leaguers aswell)

Is getting pick 5 or 6 for may really better than getting a compo pick next year which lets face it will probably be pick 1-4 the benefit we get for keeping him another season is the team will do better on field than another draftee and it spreads out our age pool if we get a top pick for him next year. Plus of course he could change his mind and re-sign next year.
