Is kind of a risk game , don't match get pick 3 and wait .Miles and Corey Ellis are not superstar players that every Vic club could be after them .

Yes, I don't blam GC for making Lynch sweat but free agency is part of the game now. Miles and Cory Ellis are worth a late draft pick of some sort.Miles won the league VFL B&F and Cory Ellis just missed a grand final spot and will play seniors.

Don't get me wrong , is your duty to try to get something out of them , late draft pick could be Hodge , Lewis , Mitchell type ? A pick 80 for 82 , or pick 74 . I call all these players a soft salary Dump ( Tom Mitchell and O Meara ) . All the above players mention play regular AFL games with Hawthorn before switching club but Corey Ellis and Miles hardly play AFL games and with Lynch coming in I think Richmond are more than happy to let them go for pick 90+ than wait until list lodgement to delist them like Hartung .

The Club were extremely impressed with Lukosius at the draft. Very mature leader stamped all over him. They really were impressed with the SA kids.
Ballard is telling them they will love it up here. Great kid that one.

If we have 2, 3, 5 and want all the SA kids then wonder what would be the best order.

I'd probably grab Rozee at 3 to lock in the bromance with Lukosius, and then be content to 'settle' for the best of Smith vs Rankine at 5.

I agree with both you and Happy Idiot - Rozee is the glue that binds Luko to us as both would be happy to stay together, and given the possible retention issues of both Rankine and Smith it may be a matter of see which one lasts to 5

Personally I hope Maysie re-Signs. Will shut up some of the trash talkers who are adamant no one wants to stay, and gives us that solid rock down in defence to rely upon for a few years to come. Picks 2 and 3 will be good enough to take to the draft. We shouldn't be relying on playing three top ten first year picks in the team together next year if we want to improve. Our improvement really needs to come from Bowes, Brodie, Ainsworth, 2MP, Ballard, even Martin, Weller, Miller, Sexton.

Not picking guys on just talent alone.

Surely this points to Bailey Smith at 3

The kid is a pure leader future captain
Most dedicated to his football his health and life away from football in the whole draft.

And is rated the best midfielder if not on par with Sam Walsh

All class on and off the field = tick
Gun midfielder = tick


Surely the club will back there behind the scenes work and extra resources this year to keep Lukosius at the Suns rather then drafting his best mate with pick 3.

If it wasnt for Lukosius, teams with picks 8-16 would be looking at Rozee not GC with pick 3!

I do rate Rozee at pick 3 based on overall package and suitability for GC . If Lukosius are not available I prefer Bailey Smith at pick 2 and Rozee at pick 3 . Walsh somehow don't really have a lot of weapon apart from Endurance where GC had Shoenfield .

* Walsh of course is a lot better than Shoenfield .

Personally if May is looking this much at all his options I would make the trade this year if we get pick 5 as part of it and you can toss a coin over Rankine and Smith.

Despite what we are led to believe by the media, we do seem to have an idea of what we are doing with our list it seems. Adding our picks in this years draft, we believe we have the young talent at the club already, we just have to protect and nurture them into the players they can be. And that young core all do seem to be pushing each other forward, so getting these mature heads in to learn from in the AFL and NEAFL sides should hopefully do wonders for the professionalism and standards which are on the up. In my mind, we are back to 2012. The talent is there and building, but we are still a year or two away from being mature enough to start mounting the wins. Hopefully we are better placed off the field this time to make the most of it.

What about the King twins? How would you guys rate them? I know many expect Max to be picked up before his brother by Carlton? But I did read they would prefer to play together, but we know that's usually a rare not a common thing these days.

Carlton are 100% picking Sam Walsh. Would have nothing to do with Max King.

Wouldn't mind them together but midfielders/small forwards/small defenders are more an issue for us the KPP right now
