No doubt if Suns were winning Lynch and May would be on long-term contracts by now. They both looked mentally spent from constant losing.
Well said. I think one journalist referred to it as burnout. As much as T Lynch has been bagged by some, he gave his all up here and maybe just felt like he couldn’t give any more should the losses continue. May’s probably feeling the same.

I wish them both well. They did put some hard yards in. Not their fault that the club was rubble due to AFL set up. It just pisses me off that both were captains while not committed and negotiating with other clubs. Not real captains in my opinion. Hopefully, the Suns will get it right with a next captain.

If I'm crows I'm talking right now about not selling the farm to get a high pick, but when it comes down to it they are going to pay the premium that it takes to get Luko or Rankine.

They probably need to start dealing with the Dogs and Saints to move their pick 8 up the order.

At the end of the day the Suns may only be prepared to move pick 3 down 1 or 2 spots to get Rozee and Crows pick 13. As part of the deal we may end up giving our picks in the 20s for their future 1st, as I would think they would need to use their other picks to get high enough up the order.

If the May deal happens and we get 5 then I can see a world where we have 2, 4, 5, 13, 18

Go Luko, Rozee, Smith, Caldwell, O'Halloran

I can live with this list. No, you made me actually excited :-). But then it will take 2-3 years for them to fully develop at least, some may not progress as expected, some may ask to go home,...

I'm not sure there is another alternative until we can convince good players to come here

Dreaming, but after what Port gave up for pick 6 it has set the market it's not beyond the realm of possibility

I think you're spot on.

Imagine your play will be to sit on 2/3 until draft night, then basically auction Luko/Rankine/Rozee

If you get overs to your satisfaction well and good, or if the reserve isn't met you get a great kid.

It's a sellers market and you hold the cards.

Anyone know if future picks can be live traded on draft night, or just this years?
Players cannot be traded under the new rules but clubs can trade current or future picks to get deals done. Trades must be completed before a selection is made — once a player’s name is read out they are locked in and cannot be traded.

This is the kind of outcome we need. We need a win instead of getting bent over all the time.

Make the other club come to us with a deal too good to say no to, they get their pick we get the outcome we want.

So correct me if I'm wrong here (assuming the state league players count as a list spot):

Michael Barlow (delisted)
Matt Rosa (retired)
Mackenzie Willis (delisted)
Michael Rischitelli (delisted/rerookied)
Tom Lynch (Richmond - RFA)
Aaron Hall (Norf)

Horlin-Smith, Miles, Ellis in. Burgess, Corbett also in. May/Martin/Scrimshaw/KK all still in play.

Picks 2, 3, 19, 24, 29, 59, 80

My assumption is Wigg delisted/rerookied, Scrimshaw and KK go for future draft picks. You need to get rid of at least one top 30 pick. Even 59 will have value to a team like Carlton wanting to bid late on Ben Silvagni.

Carlton give up: Pick 1, Future 1st round, 69 and 71
Get back: 2, 6, 15 (Hawks pick for Wingard), 48

Port Adelaide give up: 6, 10, 15, 48
Get: Pick 1, 19, 59, 80,

Gold Coast give up: Pick 2, 19,
Gold Coast get: Future first round pick, #10, 69 and 71

No bloody way. That’s horrible for us

In the context that I posted above, that you need to give up one top 30 pick and have too few list spots, Carlton's first round pick is arguably the best deal possible as far as future picks go. The points gained between trading 19 to 10 is 447 (plus the 75 or so in points you wont use in the later picks).

If Carlton's first pick is under pick 5 next year, you guys win. If it's any higher, it's probably due to May compensation and a possible priority pick for you anyway.

Well if you convince yourself that way you don't need validation from us here.

OK, I'll go back to the initial point.

You've got a stack of picks that you can't use and plenty of demand for them. What's the best outcome you can get?

Look we can't gave you an answer because in the end Craig Cameron and recruiters are the people's that make decision . They get paid to worry about the problem you mention not us . You are overthinking about other people responsibility.

We’d be better off bundling up our later picks for future picks than gifting port and Carlton with our pick 2

If there isn’t a clear reason to get a future pick from the Hawks we should not trade Scrim. If we give him away for nothing they better be sure he isn’t going to make it as I’m sick of us ****ing up as this time of year

Leslie & Lonergan also likely to be delisted if no takers for a trade.

We are still on target to use 5 quality picks at the draft.

Also sick of Hawthorn picking up gun players for unders (T. Mitchell).
