I know Menegola is playing full mid with J.Selwood and Scooter out but **** it, if he's forward next year, i'm locking him in.

Checked some stats from last night. Just to get you even more excited about Menegola, he got 33 touches with just 68% time on ground!

Because I'm still in depression about how shit my side is this year, 2018 is my only saving grace. So a list of who I think look good.

Def: Docherty is a lock. Probably take two of Laird, Lloyd and Yeo, probably the former two as Yeo's too much of a burnman to really trust to be in my starting side. Could add Ellis if he gains defensive eligiblity too. I imagine Adams will be a Mid only next year, Newman isn't quite a premo AFAIC and it's time to wave goodbye to Simpson and Shaw as SC prospects. Too early to say re: rookies, but Alex Johnson could be a goer if he survives the rest of the season in the NEAFL and isn't promoted late in the season ala Menzel. Should have good JS and will be bottom priced. If Pascoe and O'Shea get drafted they could be interesting too. Scrimshaw could be tempting if he doesn't get games for the rest of the year too. Is Hugh Goddard in St Kilda's Best 22 when fit?

Mid: Dangerfield is a lock. I think Pendlebury is past it as a must get, Fyfe and Beams are too injury-prone, Sloane and Rockliff burnt the shit out of me this year (for like the third time in Rockliff's case, if I ever think of bringing him into a side I want one of you to shoot me), and Selwood's had a few too many shockers. I think I'll grab 3-4 of the Bontempelli, Cripps, Merrett, Kelly, Treloar, Neale and Oliver combo, but maybe think about someone like Selwood or Kennedy instead. Parker could be tempting given how poorly he started the season too. For lower priced players, Ahern looks the best assuming he starts R1. If Griffen gets a discount he'll be good too, but it's hard to say he will given Fyfe and Beams didn't get one this year. Ditto Conigilo and Rischitelli. For draftees, I like the sound of Higgins, Giro and Spargo. And any mature agers that get drafted will automatically have my interest.

Ruck: Easy here - I imagine 90% of serious SCers will go Gawn/NN. I suppose Grundy might have a bit of support too. Sandilands and Kreuzer are too injury-prone.

Fwd: This is tricky. Yeo won't be a forward next year, and I think Dahlhaus and Macrae probably lose their DPP eligibility too. And out of the possible DPP's the only one that I'm certain will have forward eligibility is Gray, and his scoring is a bit too volatile for him to be a certainty - I reckon he could be cheaper at a later date. Heeney assuming he remains a forward is a lock. I really like the look of Billings and Petracca too, have for a while, so they look tempting. And Greene will remain a strong choice. I doubt Martin will get DPP, ditto Dangerfield. For rookies, Gregson should be cheap and will get games. Bennell could be interesting depending on the price, but will need to be below $250k for me to take the risk. Rioli (Cyril and Willie) could be interesting too depending on the price.

Missed anyone crucial?

Yes, let's hope so.

Probably more likely than Martin or Dangerfield getting DPP, but I can still see CD being campaigners and making him a mid only.

Locks for next year:
BACK: Docherty, Laird, any mids who gets back eligibility
MID: Dangerfield, Bont, Neale, Zerrett, Oliver, Titchell
RUCK: Gawn, NN
FWD: Gray, Heeney, Dahl, any mids who gets fwd eligibility

I think midfield is key. Strong possibly to start with 6 mid superpremos, as I did this year. All of those names above are durable, consistent, young & improving. Gawn/NN is where the risk lies, but could present huge value. Hopefully our backlines and forward lines have some midfielders gifted to us.

Unsure if heeney n dolly will have dpp next season.
Doc also spending alot of time in the mids....danger of losing defensive status.

Dahl has been a staple of my fwd line for so long... can't picture it without him. Here's hoping he doesn't lose it.
Doc I think is pretty safe. Has played increased midfield but main position is still down back. If anything he might obtain D/M eligibility, which will make him a bigger lock than he is even now.

Played 11, missed 2.
And has a 210 which makes up for one of those missed. Both if you had him captain!

But fair enough - need to avoid too many injury proners.

Can I suggest that time has caught up with GAZ aswell. Can still put up a big score, but I know I dont want 600k sitting on my bench every 2nd week.[/QUOTE]
Gaz is no longer SC relevant....

Would love a cheap ruck to appear again.

That allowed me flexibility this year
Hopefully Darcy Cameron doesn't play this year, could easily be their number 1 ruck come rd1 next year with a good preseason

Def: Doch, Laird, Lloyd
No doubt they'll all be DEFs again. Didn't start Doch this year and still don't have him so pencil him in to throw up a massive stinker at about round 5 next year, one of the 15 point injured in the first quarter variety that sees him drop 200k.

Mid: Danger, TMitch, Bont, Cripps, ZMerrett
Only glaring omission is Pendles, think he might drop back a bit and not be the super stud premo he's been for the last decade or so.
Bont is CDSuperLoveChild, Cripps would of been a start this year if he didn't die, and ZMerrett is SC starboi seagull stud (sneaky chance for D/M??)

Ruck: Gawn, NN
should be value, would be crazy not too.
Could argue Grundy might be worth it, and no interest in Kruezer, rate him, just doesn't stay on the field enough.

Fwd: Heeney, ???
Heeney should remain a forward, most likely a M/F.
can't think of anyone else who would be guaranteed FWD status worth grabbing besides maybe Petracca.
Pray CD be kind and give us back Gray, Dusty, etc.
