Hannebery is a second round pick and next years should do it , unless we can offload a player for a 2nd round pick , but whatever happens nothing should be traded until we try everything to get a Wingard , Shiel type.
Once this goes down see who has been moved out , maybe Dunstan , Weller , Hickey . Longer etc - leave the Hannebery trade till the last trade to go down - we should have the upper hand here because Sydney need cap space.
Go all out for Gaff , Wingard and Shiel and if we do trade out some players it should help secure Settlerfield , Srimshaw and Hannebery

Suns would love to get Dunstan , Newnes , Savage , Weller , Armitage - so I expect a lot of movement and surely Longer and Hickey will be offloaded for something.

i dont think we get anything reasonable for Paddy this year ... not anything good enough to cut our losses on him.. i cant see us trading Bruce either he is along with Steven our main marketing cash cow i think the move may actually be that Membrey moves higher up the ground and plays a more roaming role ... 6-6-6 will make for some interesting posibilities

Nothing can compensate pick 1 wasted but to recover something I would do the Hanneberry trade if possible and saving the use of a future/priority pick .
Long term I see Membrey, Marshall and Battle playing the key forward roles , all 3 are more flexible and are defensively better.
Most likely any outcome of Paddy being traded will probably see another forward being added via FA ( Menzel) or the draft ( pick 30-50 range ) couple of Dandenong Stingray boys look good .

Another bad year and we either back Richo and blow it up or blast Richo off into space.
I like that we have options [emoji39][emoji1303]

i think the issue here is getting the trade value to satisfy Port not so much the cost of his salary... Port would have our first as the asking price straight up, im not sure we would do that ... WB have a more reasonable first for his services and are likely to have a compo for dalhouse coming their way as well ... Hawthorn being hawthorn always come from nowhere to get things done .... personally i think we are the third cab in the rank in this case
The recently posted Ade/GC Pick3 trade for McGovern news, suggests to me that Carlton arent giving up Pick1 in any sort of deal for McGovern.
It also suggests that Port maybe eyeing off Pick4 from St.Kilda.
Adelaide at this stage have just trumped Port,in the race for an SA U/18 gun..
Adelaide may have offered McGovern and their Pick 7 plus loose change to get a chance at Lukosius or Rankine.
I doubt we are 3rd cab of the rank,if thrre is a bidding war on the SA boys

I wouldn't be surprised if Bruce is moved back into defence like where his career started.
Pretty sure Josh Bruce was drafted as a key forward and only moved back because GWS already had a butt load of quality key forwards. I think he was an All Australian key forward in his draft year.

Totally agree make Swans sweat no one else is offfering $800,000 for 4-5 years plus all those other players mentioned r younger and better players

So we offload all our junk and they love it ,,, Not too sure about that , we will be lucky if we can offload 2 of them let alone 5 to one club and i take it all the movement is another guess

Or just give him a top offer and if port hold him up he just may be disgruntled enough next year to walk over for free
Just like we were gonna do with Fyfe :drunk:
I'd rather definitely get a good player for overs than maybe perhaps get one for free.

I know the Suns will not take everyone I said but due to the amount of picks they have I'm pretty sure they would love a Dunstan and Weller, Hickey to West Coast or someone who needs a ruck.
We will get back into the draft.

Given Richo saying that Paddy is going nowhere & Max King a real possibility at #4 I suspect Bruce is GONE.

Who does he appeal to & what’s he worth?!

I hope he appeals to Gold Coast. They need a big body to replace Lynch, they may value a bloke with some experience, who's effort and work ethic is not questioned. They probably would offer as much as most, and have many picks to trade out, although maybe a multi-player/pick trade is in order.

Armo Nathan brown and Steven raved about him in his first pre season. He needs time but is exciting.
Yea and he played on the ball for what two halves of a game, maybe. I remember when started playing he played a half on the ball and then got moved from half forward to half back but yet little time on the ball. Bont IIRC played far more on the ball on the ball in his first year. Again I;m not asking him to be played on the ball the whole game but surely for 5 minutes a quarter.

Coff too

Even if their bodies are supposedly not up to it. If people genuinly think that then Look at the size of Bont, Kelly etc in their first years.

I sincerely hope so and have no doubt t we are being aggressive.

As fans we have told accept the reality of our situation. Part of that is the fact that we have to pay overs for players as a trade off for our current lack of attractiveness.

I'm all for it TBH.

If we get Hanners and Chad, we will be well on the way.

Just heard something this morning from a client who's son is an AFLW coach and was sounded out by us. His manager told him to steer clear because we are a basket case.

This external perception doesn't help our cause. Hence my opinion.

Do you know who his manager is?

My understanding is that Paul Connors is quite happy dealing with Saints. No idea what Craig Kelly's mob think of us

the Richo noise just like the board challange noise was just that noise .... people who want to drive a certain agenda making things up or exagerating events that happen to further their agenda ....
i would be very very very surprised if anyone but Richo is coaching us in round 1 2019...

It was more than noise. You call people saying there were things happening “pushing an agenda” yet you yourself are pushing an agenda that all’s fine when it isn’t. Funny that.

So, my question still stands. Are we just resigned to Richo coaching next year, or are you aware of anything else that may happen that it is not absolutely watertight? With the accent on “may” as obviously nothing is a guarantee.

I’ve heard from one “side”, happy to hear your thought MG.

thats on the basis we are willing to part with pick 4 for Wingard .... personally i think thats a little high for him if we were wanting to keep pick 4 at all costs then we are most definatly the third cab in the rank as you say the SA teams want those early pick this draft so a future first i dont think cuts it .. i would be asking if we are a realistic shot a Chad to trade Chad and pick 9 for pick 4 and Dunstan

I’ve heard it’s not over yet. Purple has also said very recently “the board is pretending that they are not going to sack Richo”. Still a watch this space for mine. Personally, I’m over it. If he stays we back him in in 2019. Nothing else we can do & no use getting angry about it.

It was definitely a huge chance of happening the other week, but one board member in particular put his foot down and pretty much stopped it in its tracks.
I’m resigned to him staying now, it’s still a chance but very unlikely.
He’ll be sacked at some stage next season and we will be 12 months behind where we should be.

agree with with trav we should do our best to keep pick 4.

Sheil, guy is a good player but he misses targets, i'd prefer scully at a cheaper price if possible. not worth the coin being discuss imo.

I was very clear the other week. Whilst Finnis backs Richo you won’t see change. Very clear.

no im not pushing any agenda ... all is most certainly not fine very far from it but when we have posters claiming a board take over is immenent when it most certainly was not when we have posters saying 6 players want out cause they hate richo when that is most certainly incorrect .... im all for discussing the issues with our club (lord knows there are pleanty) but please let keep the sensationalist exagerations out of it ... the President was always going to stand down the whisper of a board challange was no where near mature enough to actually have achieved anything so posting it was immenent was a gross exageration ... so far my sources have come through with what has actually happened to date ... yet the sensational claims of challanges and player revolts has so far turned up zilch ...
im backing my sources at this stage

Well then I guess we are all going to have to move on and hope like hell the new assistants we have/ are getting are worth their salt. And that all the focus on Richo this off season has shaken him up and helps him reassess things in a big way.

MG, what's the club's stance on pick 4? Are we likely to keep it?

I think all options are on the table, as they should be. Im a big fan of keeping pick 4 but if Wingard is available then I think you must pull the trigger.
The cash is being thrown in players faces so ill be very interested to see what eventuates.
This off season is the complete opposite of the 5 off seasons before it. I’m reserving my judgment until we know exactly what happens.
