Carlton have given up developing their own players.

I hate Carlton as much as anyone but they have done pretty well recently bar a few people. Walsh,Cripps, Weitering, McKay, Curnow (when fit), are stars with a decent smattering of role players. They are doing what we need to do, dragging B graders from other teams to improve their list without costing the world.
They will play finals next year

Star or decent players don't want to go to GCS until some good result in AFL . If not every year will be the same old tune . Start with a bang and end with chi chi band bang . Next year will be Jez McLennan back to Adelaide like scrimshaw to Hawthorn .
