We need some rebound off HB, Markov offers something we don't have a lot of outside of Harbrow who is at the end. Ballard and co don't offer anything like that.

Absolutely. Outside of the first 5 rounds we were so slow and stagnant moving the ball out of defence, relying on Lukosius, Bowes and Powell to nail dangerous kick to open things up. Most of the time there was zero run, just chip, mark, chip, mark, chip, turnover.

Budarick is the only defender we currently have who can take the game on with his wheels, but he is a 19-year old kid taking the oppositions most danergous small forward.

At least this shows the team has identified that this is an area of weakness for us and is looking at potential options.

Lin Jong? We tried to get this guy twice four/three years ago and he turned us down both times. He's broken down every year since. Now wants to come to us? No thanks buddy. You had your chance. Think he's done at AFL level.

Will gold coast target a big name?



The Suns are definitely all about retention. I know that sounds boring but they have secured Rory Atkins who they love on a four-year deal with a five-year trigger, I saw the AFL.com boys linked Oleg Markov to the Suns who would be a cracking get, and they are interested in Nathan Broad, albeit not on much money. They know they are about to have to pay up for guys like Rankine, Luko, King, et al. They don't want to break the bank bringing too many in

Saad prob worth pick 7 more than Jack Martin was. Based on his last few years and how high rated he is amongst the league. 3-4 top 5 BnF.

The great and special
gift from VFL House Mark Evans might have stuffed our momentum up by Doing what the other clubs didn’t do and sacking all those staff members before seasons end. It’s created a perception rightly or wrongly that we are a just an amateur clique Joint.

Fremantle offloaded 3-4 before we did.
Sydney offloaded 3 assistants (Maxfield, Kennelly, Holden) all life members of that club too in May.
Hawthorn and North moved on a few mid year.
But you're right though. We need to get Bluey back from cricket to coach us, Clayton back to give us a few more skinny flankers, Ashcroft to run the dept. It was a huge success.

If by some miracle Carlton gives up pick 7 for Saad in a straight swap then whoever is in charge at Carlton should be sacked on the spot

There isn’t a small defender in the AFL worth a top 10 pick IMO.

There are also obvious reasons why this trade differs from Saad bending us over for the benefit of a big VIC club.

Hi Iva, I was just trying to give some context for Jen as to why we are annoyed that Saad was only rated as a 2nd rounder when Essendon pinched him from us, but now they see him as worth pick 7. I’m not sure whether Jen was frequenting the Suns board, when that 1st trade occurred.

Under the assumption we got something like a future second back yeah absolutely, but for a reason.

we dont have enough list spots to pick up more than 2 or 3 kids at the draft and I assume we’re committing those spots to Davies, Lake and Jeffries.

meaning, realistically, given we’re also likely to get Atkins, Broad and maybe Markov we MAY have 1 spot left after trading Wright/Brodie (which I don’t want to do)

Tarrant is an absolute rock in defence. He’s a good leader and isn’t known for being stupid outside of footy. Hasn’t showed signs of age effecting him yet.

we need people that are going to help us win NOW. DGB or whoever we pick up in the draft will take years. We need to put wins on the board starting from next season.

Tarrant helps us win games.
We don’t have enough list spots to use the draft this year anyway.
+ Getting more kids in just means more development time which just gives guys like King, Rankine, Luko etc. more time to decide to leave because we haven’t been successful.
It’s time to load up on established talent.
