Also would love it if our recruiters and Balme could convince darcy to ellect the draft for us to trade for GWS pick 3.

8. Bodhi Uwland (Gold Coast - Academy)
Best position: Inside midfield/general defence
Height, weight:185cm, 84kg
Recruited from: Gold Coast
Projected draft range: 20-60
Plays like: Luke Hodge
July ranking: 12
Rationale: With the way he has shown he can impact games in his two NAB League matches and with how he has held his own and progressed in the VFL since, Uwland's stocks should only continue to rise as scouts in clubland see more of him. With his damaging and penetrating kick, contested ball winning and how he bursts through stoppages and shrugs tackles so easily, there is sizeable scope to develop.
Strengths:
Penetrating and damaging but reliable kick
Kicks placed out to the advantage side for teammates to lead onto
Decision making with ball in hand
Vision
Contested ball winning
Powerful shrugging of tackles
Aggression
Physical edge
Evasion
Agility
Acceleration
Leap
Versatility to impact games either through the midfield, defence or across half-forward
Weaknesses:
Endurance
Work rate

Surely the GC academy kids are off limits? I thought that new rule only applied the BS zones academies. However, although I assumed the GC had an exemption, surely Sydney has lost it. The number of kids playing in Sydney now is huge. Every year there seems to be a local top 10. No way they should keep getting exclusive access to those players.

Bodhi Satva is better

This is exactly what we need !!! Maybe with one of our 2nd round picks.

GEELONG Falcons midfielder Mitch Knevitt is the Draft Central NAB League Player of the Week for Round 16. The 18-year-old midfielder amassed 36 disposals, 10 marks, three tackles, eight inside 50s and a goal in his side’s impressive 38-point road win against Bendigo Pioneers on Sunday.
He boasts a desirable set of skills at 193cm, with formidable size and contested ball winning ability to go with eye-catching athletic traits and a knack for taking strong overhead marks.

If we went into the draft with our current picks…..? Accounting for f/s picks. Would not mind these selections. Height being a need.
1st(10)- Ward(181,Mid) Gibcus(195,KD) Hobbs(183,IM)

2nd(17)- Roberts(183,IM) Long(192,IM) Goater(190,U) VanRooyen(194,KF) Amiss(195,KF)

3rd(28)- Williams(195,KF) Knevitt(193,IM) Bazzo(195,KD)

4th(29)- Brown(193,Mid) Macdonald(184,Mid)

5th(42)- Banks(187,D) Curtis(183,F/M)

6th(45)- Chipper(176,IM) Newitt(194,U)

Rookie- Lakey(173,IM)

IM= inside midfielder
KD= key defender
KF= key forward
M= midfielder
U= utility
F/M= forward/midfielder

Reads like the type we need for sure if he can do all this at the level. I am keen for the KP types also but our centre clearance needs to be fixed.

Sounds great. But don’t think we want another player with speculative workrate and endurance.
We already have one in RCD

Question about our strategy heading into the draft
With Ashbury retiring, we will be sitting at 35 of 38 list spots filled (not inclusive of seperate rookie spots)
Holding 4 picks inside the first two rounds and and knowing we need to make at least 3 selections, do we think we will aim to take our three highest picks to the draft and potentially trade one of our second round picks for either Richards or narkle?

a draft hand of 2 first rounders, a second rounder and a trade for a quality young developing mid seems like a very hand trade period to me

Without having studied the draftees in this class in detail yet, I'm not sure what the value is in reaching for a KPD/KPF with our 1st that we'd need to develop over 4-5 years anyway if we wanted to have another tilt at a flag next year. We could take the best available midfielder and have them make a more immediate impact.

With our 1st pick im in the Erasmus camp
Starting to warm to Josh Ward from Northern Knights, turned 18 3 days ago. Averages 29 disposals 6 marks & 4 tackles a game. In Vic Metro trial game he had 29 disposals 8 clearances and 2 goals.

Totally depends on trade week and to see what falls from the tree. We’ve given up high picks before in Prestia (Pick 6) and that’s worked out for us and we’ve had busts with high draft picks as well so I reckon we would definitely be letting it known that we’re in the game for trading our picks, and specifically have our targets. Add the potential for pick swaps as very likely to happen with the picks we've got, to get where we need to be, and our current draft hand changes. (Doesn’t have to a player involved it could be us wanting to move up the draft order).

The positive this year is that its been a dry run in the draft for a while of not having highly valued picks within the top 30-40, with poor draft hands recently, especially not since 2016/2017, which were v.good, e.g draftwise = 2017 when we got Higgins (17), Coleman Jones (20), Balta (25) Naish (34) and Miller (63) and a bloke called Liam Baker (Rookie) in that draft.

Considering this year is a much stronger hand we will top up nicely with at least 5 or 6 list changes from our retirees and delistings.

Pick 4? Not sure about that. Think there'll be a quite a few ahead of Gibcus at that point.
Most likely there will be but teams like GWS & GC would have him directly in their sights

Both clubs have pretty strong (be it young) midfield and they are in need of a quality defender and Gibcus is the stand out in this years draft
