Lachie Neale won a Brownlow.Apparently it’s been over 20 years since a Neil has played AFL![]()
From discussions last year and Knightmare’s phantom draft power rankings on ESPN, it doesn’t really look like it’s a strong draft for key position players. The top is full of midfielders or KPPs that are NGAs (I get the new rules this year about this) and F/S picks. Schlensog’s the only one outside of that at pick 16, which makes me wonder why no one went for him in the midseason draft.
Should we focus a lot on midfielders this year and then pick up KPPs next year with our early picks? I wonder
Not sure why we would trade 2 mid 20s picks for 18? Basically giving away Pick 25 to move up six spots?trade 24, 25 for dogs 18

I think we recruit Peter Bol on the rookie list and see if he has potential.
Thier fans haven't figured it out yet but they'll have to trade players out again. Get the popcorn ready!I'm liking how screwed Collingwood are.
Checking out Lore's current picks and points table up the top, they currently have 1609 points.
If Nick Daicos is bid at pick 1, they need 2400 points (that's including 20% discount)
800 point deficit - meaning next year's draft their first round pick get's downgraded.
Not sure if gets rounded up or down after downgrading? But would mean:
if they have pick #1 --> #3
#2 -->#6
#3 --> #9
#4 --> #12 and so on.
Assuming you're happy to take the risk they won't match and happy to draft Daicos, why wouldn't another team bid at #1? Gives a good chance of sliding up a pick next year as well.
And Collingwood have sh*t picks to try and trade for points.
Their 42 & 48 combine to be worth 697 points.
To improve that value they would need to trade these for at least pick 27. And noone will trade a pick higher than 27 for those.
To increase points, you need to start with high picks and trade for multiple lowers. Just doesn't work the other way.
And their first pick is #37, which just isn't high or exciting enough to get much lower pick combos offered. Maybe Brisbane or Gold Coast would offer 3 picks in the 50s or later for it.
Bulldogs in a much better position with pick #18. They could slightly downgrade it several times, each time getting extra points. If they pay it smart they could probably double its value in points.
Mathew Roberts is the kid I'm keen on, hope he falls to our first pick.Which other clubs would be in the hunt for a decent mobile ~195cm KPF?
The draft seems to have Josh Gibcus rated as top 10,
then Amiss, Williams & Jacob Van Rooyen all rated fairly similarly but each could go anywhere from early teen selection to undrafted (given Jackson Callow last draft).
The only other names I've heard mention are Rhett Bazzo - who is a defender and Blake Schlengsog.
Hard to predict where abouts in the draft any of these will go - depends what picks the clubs who need them have.
Would be nice if we could spend our first round picks on midfielders and be confident that some of these will still be around for our second round picks.

I assume there are a few exceptions, but you're pretty right there.Historically all decent key fwds go top 15, the rest rarely make it
As much as I like what I see above as options, I think pick 17 & 29 will go to Freo for Cerra and we may get 3rd round back, which we would use for Narkle.Preferred options if we hold our first 4 draft picks at seasons end
10.
Ben Hobbs 183cm/80kg Inside midfielder GWV Rebels
A hard running ball winning inside midfielder who comes across as an ideal addition to our young midfield group
Josh Ward 181cm/79kg Midfielder Northern Knights
Well balanced midfielder who can win the footy on the inside but can also do damage on the outside.
Josh Sinn 186cm/82kg Outside Midfielder Sandringham Dragons
An outside mid/half back who is a line breaker that uses the ball to great effect.
17.
Matthew Johnson 193cm/80kg Inside Midfielder Subiaco
Smooth moving inside midfielder with clean hands at the contest
Campbell Chesser 186cm/83kg Balanced Midfielder Sandringham Dragons
An outside line breaking midfielder who is also able to win his own footy at the contest.
Josh Goater 190cm/79cm Inside Midfielder Calder Cannons
Another big bodied inside midfielder with an ability to impact on the outside or up forward.
27 & 29.
Jye Amiss 195cm/85kg KPF East Perth
Mobile KPF who is incredibly accurate in front of goal having converted at 80% in front of goal.
Jack Williams 195cm 91kg KPP East Fremantle
Versatile KPP who can play at either end of the ground. Averages just under 3 goals a game this year at Colts level.
Jacob Van Rooyen 194cm/88kg KPP Claremont
Entered the year as a KPF but has played more as a defender as the year has progressed. A bout of glandular fever hampered his season as well.
Rhett Bazzo 194cm 77kg KPD Swan Districts
After being tried up forward has returned to playing as an intercept marking defender
For me an ideal haul would be Ward Chesser Amiss & Williams at the draft if we don't go trading out our early picks I think we'd be well placed for our long term future.
As much as I like what I see above as options, I think pick 17 & 29 will go to Freo for Cerra and we may get 3rd round back, which we would use for Narkle.
That leaves 10, 27, 42, 46. Maybe we can bunch up 27,42 and 46 (points) for a late 1st rounder eg: WB pick 18
That may leave us with 10, 18, Cerra, Narkle and 4 come off our list - Caddy, Chol/CCJ, #3, # 4 as listed players ??
nah first will be pick 17.... geelong's after we flog them again in the gfWho are we going to get with our first pick, pick 18 ?
Hehe
Hoping the Aints and Demons beat them in the next 2 weeks and then we beat them in an Elimination Finalnah first will be pick 17.... geelong's after we flog them again in the gf![]()
Sounds like the type we desperately need , he's rated around our pick ,Ben Hobbs sounds like a good fit if he gets through to our pick. Contested beast. Sounds like not a great athlete profile, but just a true blue footballer. Bit of an Ollie Wines type the way I read it
