Or it’s the player we’re not linked, that is the mid we really want.Goater doesn’t seem to have been linked to us at all really so he is probably unlikely.

Fake News.Every northern academy recruiter has said multiple times on podcasts, Twomey’s Road to the Draft, SEN interviews etc, that they won’t bid on another clubs player just for the sake of it, but only if they rate the player and want the player at that pick.
Conole has even said it on the Roar Deal when discussing the 2018 draft, and was asked if he thought of bidding on Jarrod Cameron at the Tom Berry pick.

I hope I’m wrong and he becomes a star with someone who is so young he may in fact improve on he’s kicking skills I’d personally prefer the player that’s going to take the risk kick and make that work the only player we really we have that does that is RichI don't think he's overrated, he's a really nice player that a lot of teams would like the low risk option, I just think we're in a position with our list to try and target some real game changers that could be a little more high risk high reward.

Fake News.
Roberts would be interesting having 3 Robos our listJohnson?
The links may not come directly from the clubs themselves though, there are other people involved.Absolutely. Clubs are not revealing their hands to the media of all people.

Including the players, player managers, friends, family.
Every interview you hear with a player or player manager they are asked what clubs have interviewed them the most or most recently and which clubs appear most interested as with Chesser yesterday. They are just answering the questions. And managers are doing the same.Yep unofficial leaks. You would think though that the players wouldn't be aware and if they are they'd have the sense to not blab to the media or friends
I always find it fascinating before the draft when players say "yeah, I've got a lot of interest from X and Y and Z". If I were those clubs, I'd be re-thinking whether a player telling private info to get on a radio show was right for the club.Yep unofficial leaks. Can only report what they say publicly. Can’t think of an instance where a Northern academy club has bid on an opposition kid earlier than expected.Fake News.
And you wont hear that from any club but it does happen...even from Northern clubs. If you think about it, clubs having to cash in their picks earlier because another club nominated their academy player is in most situations strategic. Can only report what they say publicly. But just want to clarify, I’m not saying that Southern clubs haven’t bid early or that Northern clubs don’t get pissed off if it happens to them.
Just that we won’t bid on a player for the sake of it. This discussion started because GWS has reportedly said they won’t bid on Daicos at 2.

Didn't Josh Ward say that he preferred to stay in Victoria sometime year to play his footy in the future? What we haven't heard this year is player X would prefer to stay in Victoria or interviewed poorly with interstate teams
What's with all the potential half-back draftee targets for us following Collingwod, first Chesser and now WilmotMr Wilmot also follows Collingwood, who he supports since his father played 5 games with them in VFL.
I know it’s happened in the past where VIC clubs have bid early on Northern academy clubs. And you wont hear that from any club but it does happen...even from Northern clubs. If you think about it, clubs having to cash in their picks earlier because another club nominated their academy player is in most situations strategic.

Josh Ward sort of did. What we haven't heard this year is player X would prefer to stay in Victoria or interviewed poorly with interstate teams

Yeah but like there is 9 other better teams in Victoria to follow & support then Collingwood thoughThey’re kids living in Victoria.
Wasn’t an early bid though. Right where he was rated.GWS bid on Blakey from memory.
