Back in the mid 2000's I was one of these guys that was against them opening the roof at the Docklands.

Feel like the games there now, need the roof open. You need games with a bit of a weather element there to throw a bit of uncertainty in games. I mean I kind of expected the Dogs to come out and play that possession style . But this 'keepings off' is becoming more prevalent at games at the Docklands.

I cant count the number of games that have gone over 220.5 pts at the Dome over the last 3 years or so. But those days are long, long gone.

Decided to spend 5 running the numbers on this.

94 games played at Marvel since 01/01/20 for an average score of 162.73 per game
93 games played at the MCG since 01/01/20 for an average score of 155.79 per game

The stadium isn't the issue.

Im pretty sure games at the Dome in the 2000's decade, around 1 in 4 or so games, went over 220.5 points.

Teams I feel are better at controlling the ball nowadays. Part of that is the different and change in game decade by decade.

Average points per game in the 2000s at Marvel was 202.17.
Average points per game in the 2000s at the MCG was 191.05.

Again, the stadium isn't the issue, it's across the board lower scoring. Proposing to open the roof and introduce weather won't result in higher scoring, and the data suggests it will actually lower scoring.
