If we put a good enough package to them they might be willing to pay some of his salary - helps them avoid overpaying other players on their list.

Cameron stated they wanted fair compensation for the deal.

But what we want and what we get are different things… We advertised pick 7 with Bowes, we advertised we would get Bowes to where he wants to go etc. so we have less bargaining power. We are doing right by Bowes (after doing wrong by him…), but it has cut any power we have at the negotiating table.

Future 2nd is probably the likely trade… Sadly.

Yeah. But as I said, we basically said we would get Bowes to wherever is a best fit for him.

This limits our power to get the best deal. Obviously Essendon or Hawks would have the cap space and picks we want, as well as the promise of midfield minutes he wants. But maybe not the success, if that is more important to him.

We have to drive Geelong to give up something, but I’m not sure how much we can shake out. But maybe, as said above, we can give them the picks they need for their other trades along with 7 and Bowes, and they give us something back of better value to justify those extra picks.

Thomas would be a great get, but he is a midfielder, not a fwd pocket. So I'm not sure that's where the greatest need is. Swallow is a midfielder, Flanders is a midfielder, we want Hollands breaking into the midfield.

Thomas most definitely improves us, but we need a genuine crumbing fwd and a key back who plays 1 on 1 more so. Even though he knows how to kick them, I think would be lost playing 80% fwd.
