Just numb. We fail to show consistent fight and grit while playing a game style that requires both at 110% for it to work. Trying not to over-react but after the last few weeks and with the youth looking pretty good I wouldn't be against a soft rebuild. Would take a huge run of everything going right to win #17 with this list and game plan and I just can't see it happening unfortunately.
Gameplan that requires players to execute.
Missed goals
Missed targets
Simply too poor with our skills

When you bring in someone like Harry O'Farrell, you need to have a specific plan in mind to make it work given his lack of body strength and elite endurance. We had none, we just picked a tall defender.

Wilson would have had us sending Ollie out of defence without us being robbed of too much run, and he would have been able to shut out Callum Brown, and we could have swapped Young in for McGovern regardless.

Other than that, too slow, and too insistent on using Walsh at stoppages, which is now officially getting exploited.

I'm a little frustrated in the Motlop hate this time.

9 disposals, 6 tackles and a goal.

Durds meanwhile had 6 disposals, 2 tackles and not a ripple on the scoreboard.

I watched Mots carefully this week because he is copping it on facebook and on here. A poor kick, a dropped mark, but lots of heart and effort. I'm not sure why he's the only small forward singled out every week.
He kicked a goal by default. Was very fortunate to get a free after dropping an uncontested mark. Motlop isn't AFL standard any which way you want to spin it.

I think back to what Curnow did last week. Game on the line and feigns a left foot snap to then go back on his right and miss. 20m out from goal on a 45 degree angle.thats our leadership right there.

If our leaders on the field can't or won't do the simple things right, what hope do we have for our younger players coming through? What hope do we have?

You'd never see that sort of crsp from Pendlebury. It's representative of our inability to execute the fundemental parts of the game. It'd be absolutely infuriating of you're the coach.
This goes to standards, from coaches and players.

It doesn't happen at Collingwood because he would be immediately admonished.

It doesn't get called out because once again we are emboldened by the 2023, "do nothing and it will get better" approach.

Charlies been doing this shit for years because we let him. It's so visible we have no standards. Just an absolute generational quagmire this club

Curnow shits me to tears. Just superhero efforts only, never any grit or toughness or willingness to sacrifice for anyone else. Does not do the percentage thing ever.

For how talented he is, he has become incredibly easy to defend against. He's been figured out since his Coleman years and he doesn't have the resilience/ fortitude/ footy IQ to combat it.

We (rightly) get angry at our F50 entries due to consistently bombing it i. But I never see him (nor McKay) attempt to get separation and lead up at the player with ball in hand.

Our players just lack any natural IQ. Everything is so mechanical because it needs to be taught to them. We can never rely on them doing the right thing in the moment, based solely on their natural ability.

This statement is not solely at Curnow but across the entire playing list We need to get aggressive this off season. If we think this current crop is enough and top-ups will suffice, it simply won't. And I'm genuinely scared that nobody at the club has the gaul to realise it and, more importantly, act upon it

He cannot get separation and is pretty much not AFL standard.

If this isn’t a sign to trade players and cash in then we will only become more and more shit over the next few years.

Easily a bottom 6 club with no run, low level skills and average footy IQ.

If we don’t trade some of our guns we are going to stink it up for many years to come.

The positives aka hope that we supporters have, surely today shows we are a very below average outfit
Average footy iq is being way too kind. Not a brain cell between them.

Uncontested? It was a hot spear wearing Idun as a backpack. If he got him high, it's not by default.

I bag Jesse out often, but the level of it is hysterical of late. He is the whipping boy of our times. Our supporters seem to need one. They won't ever recognise anything decent he does. 6 tackles? Nothing?

At no point today did our switches work.

The way we try to operate out of D50 is by transitioning the ball slowly through half back and into the corridor with a handball receive or two to put some speed onto the ball before kicking long to a one out or a leading target. By switching and switching fast, we get the opportunity to find one on ones or outnumbers ahead of the footy.

However, our game this season has required all of Haynes, Weitering, Gov and Jack to really get this game going. GWS were tall in offense, too; on any other day, Brown kicks all three of those on the full, but of course he kicks them against us. Hogan and Himmelberg complete the set; for all the going on that Himmelberg was playing wing, he was inside forward 50 an awful lot. So, we had Young, Weits, HOF and Haynes/Gov trying to fill the void. I also wonder if Doc was trying to do what he used to do and call blokes in; that used to be his gig before the ACL's. Him doing that and Weits doing it led (I think) to Weits not knowing whether to stay down or not a few times, thinking it had to be him when Gov or someone else should be going.

That's our intercepting game foiled. We can't reliably switch the ball because we can't reliably intercept it. We have no transition game without intercepting. This is something to blame list management for IMO, because you can only develop a gameplan to suit the list you've got. The coaches also tried a whole heap of stuff today, and while most of it didn't work it's interesting to see. There was a centre stoppage setup of Durdin, Ollie and Motts at least once today, with White running in from a wing. As such, you cannot accuse the coaching staff of a failure to recognise that things are not working at present.

So, we know our transition game isn't working and is in fact breaking down; what'd we do? Well, we go hyper contest. We choke them around the ball; repeat stoppages and force them to defend repeat inside 50's. But then, they kept finding ways to kick just the arsiest goals repeatedly on counterattack; this, on the same day we hit the post 3-4 times and got pulverised by the umps inside forward 50.

I'm disappointed a bit here. This is pretty close to a hard line through our season: we'd need to beat both of Brisbane and Collingwood to make finals now. But there is a silver lining here: since injuries forced our hand, we've absolutely been playing the kids. Cooper Lord is improving week by week. Carroll has struggled, but is building. Durds, Motts, White are building synergy. HOF was genuinely awesome, and **** you Jordan Lewis for torching a first gamer for ball watching when Gov stayed down.

Doc was pretty close to how he used to be. Cripps was poor, so was Walsh, and so was TDK.

Carn the Blues!

I'm not gonna sling mud at individual players in my first post here, but let’s get this straight:

I bleed blue. You all bleed blue. I love you all.

I love this club with every fibre of my being.

But this team and its so-called "dynamic"?

Too often, it’s brain-dead, soft as butter, and completely gutless.

Lose one of our sharpest minds (Silvagni), and the backline turns into a complete shambles.

Our F50 entries? They’re about as structured as a lunchtime kick-to-kick at school – all about giving your mate a shot at a hanger, but zero system or smarts.

And the midfield? The key cogs have been together for four years, yet they still play like strangers. No cohesion, no clue.

Games like today make me think it wouldn't matter who coached this team. The want, the desire, the IQ simply isn't up to the standards required for successful football. It's not just the kids lacking experience. Many of our biggest culprits today were our so-called stars.

To be fair, Durdin got burned multiple times when players like McGovern chose to kick to Charlie or into a congested pack, instead of hitting him when he was wide open.

I don't think Durdin can be blamed for our inability to make the right decisions going forward.

Honestly, it's a bit worrying that Lord—a rookie—is currently our most damaging forward-entry kick.

Trade H - he’s got the most trade value ..(pity we didn’t go ahead with the petracca trade)

Walsh is not what we need in our midfield mix. Has no point of difference what so ever - no power no footy IQ, no burst loves the dump hack kicks. I don’t see it.

But not sure hed have much value?

Motlop had 80% game time & goes in the middle.

Durds had 65%

Motlop can set his alarm early next week.

Voss can **** right off and take the rest of the shit kickers in the coaches box with you. What a joke of a club we have become 7 players have millions of dollars tied up, we need to make hard decisions another rebuild on the way, how many rebuilds is that now?

Walsh trade him get some currency while we can.
McKay same trade.
Motlop can leave for a bag of chips.
TDK has checked out, and that's a good thing not worth the 2 mill he wants.
Williams bye,
McGiovern bye.
Dudrin LOL.

So many players on the list we need to get rid off, what a joke of a club.

Happy with the kids showed more that our so called leaders and millionaires.

There’s some guys out there going through the motions, ticking the KPI’s with no impact & happy enough to take the pay checks.

Of that lot, Cerra was very good.

There’s an hours decent footy in us & that simply isn’t enough.

We just do not hurt opposition sides physically or run & they know that.

Did like Lords game today, thought Carroll battled hard, HOF is raw, but there’s signs, White gets it enough, has to get greedy around the sticks.

That’s about it.
Cerra is just buried with his rolez. Instead of letting him shine as he should I feel sorry for him.
