1 month ago you probably didn’t know Robey existed and a 5 min YouTube comp from Footy Stuff has made you think you’re missing out on dusty martin. Honestly I don’t blame you, if we land Robey after you guys and west coast passed up on him, and we win a finals game, it will just be sensational.

Don't think we should be taking Xavier Taylor, yes talented but we had Luke Trainor playing on the wing this year because our back line was pretty set, let alone bringing in another similar player. Trainor and Brown are our interceptors for the next 10 years to replace Vlaustin and Broad eventually. Robey and Grij for me, both address needs and have a high ceiling.

Taylor and Trainor are similar in size and that's where it stops. I'm actually worried about Trainor, I think man on man he struggles and is quite slow.

Taylor on the other hand is the complete opposite, loves the contest, flies for everything ( like the flying viking from the Saints) & is quick on the burst.

I would be happy with a Sharp & Taylor more than Robey & Grilj !!

I doubt we'll be picking at 3 or 4 come the draft. Either us and/or WCE will be bidding on 2 or 3 Academy kids, which will push us back to 5 & 6

Hopefully Essendon and Melbourne both come for pick 4. We tell Essendon we'll trade with them over Melbourne if we know who theyre going to take, so our player will still be there. 38 becomes 21 as a result.

If west coast take Duursma and CDT, we will take Robey at 3. This is a 80% probability. Players then from our pick 4 to others picks 5 to 10 are very even IMO, other than idealistic 'need'.

I think nobody will trade up for pick 4 and if they do they are stupid, or we won't get anything decent for the deal.

Alternatively, the 20% scenario is West Coast takes Duursma and Robey, and we have to make a call on taking CDT. Under this scenario we WOULD trade pick 3 as I think we would be prepared take a later pick from Essendon or Melbourne and a future first. Pick 4 would then be used on Grlj and a later pick 5/6/7/8 on whoever is left from a short-list.

This will be the main 2 scenarios of draft night.

Trainor is true KPD size at 195, X is only 191, which I get isnt much, but it is the difference between KPD size and 3rd tall.

I dont want X, I want mids, , but jeez his profile is very Richmondy.

I guess my point is that there’s a lot of love from the average punter (I.e. around these parts), media, phantom drafters etc. But we really don’t know what the club is thinking. To say you’re 80% sure the club will pick player X is bold!

Sims was good. Dodson has done nothing. Way toooooo early to tell for big guys.

Did you watch the vfl game vs us? He gave sims an absolute bath, was the reason the game was close at HT and forced us to put Kozi in ruck. 35 touches 41 hit outs.

He also had 3 goal 29 touch game and a 19 touch 4 goal game a couple of weeks before.

I didn’t want Dodson in the draft, I was wrong. He’s genuine ruck height and younger than sims. He also missed 1st game of champs last year because he was OS representing Australia in basketball.

I hope Sims is better, and obviously he’s more of forward ruck but Dodson is much further ahead right now.

We have enough to go by if you listen closely to what the club and other accurate sources have said. Not all opinions are equal.

He is not slow and his 2klms is fast 6.20 2klm and a better 20mtr that is not far off smille and jagga is not slow
But being dual sided is priceless when you dont have to go on a preferred

The other thing is that the Sharp midfield archetype is more easily acquireable if we do need one of them down line. They can be traded for pretty cheaply as clubs can only play or at most 2 at a time or you can turn player existing players into that defensive minded, first possession midfield role. Guys like Ross, and Mcauliffe can be moulded into that type of player, maybe even Hopper if all of Smillie, Lalor, Hoton, Robey (?) surpass him A defensive minded first possession midfielder is not as valuable as forward half impact and tackle breaking type player.
