If that’s the case there’s no way we should take him at 4 when we could trade back with Carlton and take him at 9. Assuming Essendon and Melbourne aren’t keen.
And if no one wants to trade and he's 2nd on Geich's list.
We should ignore and go with what the 3rd on our list?

Anyone reckon we are considering Burton at 38?

Has elite speed & output: …top-5 time in the 20m sprint (2.915s) / disposal average (approx. 29.6 disposals per game in the Coates Talent League) …is capable of playing as a damaging running half-back or as an outside/inside midfielder…Is a line-breaker and ball-accumulator …recorded a standing Vertical Jump: 74 cm (Ranked in the top 10)

His name has been mentioned @ 38 for us.

Lets just its Grilj we're after in the split.
if he goes before hand its not the end of the world in this draft.
We'd have others on the list.
Barker(really hoping he's our smokey)
Philipou
Farrow.
4-Cumming
9-Grilj(Barker)
11-Barker(Phillipou)
Who are teams going to trade up for though?

Can see Essendon or Melbourne trading up for Robey. Melbourne in particular but think the best they would be prepared to offer would be their first and gold coasts future first.

Could we use Gold Coasts future first and trade it to Carlton for one of theirs to help them with Walker next year? They might need our 38 points wise but we likely wouldn’t use it if we had 3 first rounders this year anyway?

I originally didn’t care for Robey because of all the hype and all Tiger YouTuber accounts not stfu about him but I can’t hold back and I’m melting. If he’s available and we don’t take him not going to be happy.

We lack half forward quality. Him and Lalor for the next 12 odd years we’re set in that department.

Grijl fits our need for the next pick and Taylor fits the proto type role just not sure who’s better.

Go Sharp and keep it safe?!
I reckon you can build a case that Grlj ticks as many boxes as anyone else at p4
He’s the best endurance/speed athlete in the draft.
Prototype hb/Wing who could develop into a mid in time. Clubs love 80m players.
Easily Stepped up to VFL level.
Very good character.

I agree it would be Robey but old mate has been banging on that he's a potato but then thinks we can trade him for 2 1st round picks. :D

It’s unlikely there is no one that wants to trade up to our picks.

Carlton was the example I used and if the threat is we either bid on Dean or trade, I think they would prefer pick 4 in the draft, Dean and a points deficit for 2026, compared to Dean and a pick in late teens.

I’d be surprised if no one wanted Duursma, CDT or Robey, if we want Taylor and Grlj. Melbourne may also want to jump ahead of Essendon.

I don’t think the trade would be significantly in our favour except maybe the Carlton one. However, if Grlj is a near certainty to be available later I can’t see any reason not to upgrade our third pick or add another. We need a lot more than 2 players.

Going to be fascinating to see what happens on Wednesday night. I think it all centres on if we want Robey or not. If we do we simply take him at 3 and work out what if any offers come for 4 or pick who we want.

If we don't then we want to hope the Dees have as big a hard on for him as it seems and somehow get 7 and 8 so we can go say Grjl and Phillipou if that's who were keen on.

Don't get your hopes up on a pick split.

If it were a legitimate chance, I don't think we would have re-signed Sonsie.

If we gain an extra pick, then a late bid on Kellaway won't be able to be matched due to available list spots.
Yeah i wonder if we are expecting Kellaway to make it through to the rookie list?

is this draft better than the andy mcgrath draft?
Hopefully same.

McCluggage as 3rd best open pool player & then Shai Bolton as the 25th best open pool player (which is where we are picking)

*Happily take Ainsworth at 4 lol

Back to the draft.

Jevan Phillipou saying that of all clubs we have expressed the most interest in him is really fascinating.

Pick 3 & 4 would be too high.

He isn’t slipping to 38.

So maybe there is something trade wise in the works?

I don’t mind the selection in a teens pick of him.
Didn't he make a very egotistical comment on how good he thought he was? I thought someone posted that at least

TIGER CONUNDRUM

Which players Richmond selects with its first two picks remains a big talking point among the industry.

Should West Coast overlook Duff-Tytler, the Tigers would almost certainly pounce with their first natural selection. But the expectation is the Eagles will pair Duff-Tytler with Duursma.

Three open-pool players are consistently linked with Richmond: Eastern Ranges star pair Xavier Taylor and Sullivan Robey, as well as Oakleigh Chargers speedster Sam Grlj.

Robey – a powerful 192cm forward-mid – is the biggest bolter in an AFL draft since Clayton Oliver 10 years ago. No AFL club had spoken to Robey prior to July this year. Three months later, all 18 had contacted him.

Taylor is a serious defensive talent who’s rocketed into top-10 calculations over recent months. At 191cm, he’s a genuine hybrid third defender who has the athleticism and versatility to either lock down or intercept while playing on forwards of different sizes.

Grlj, who’s spoken to 17 of the 18 AFL clubs, is a hybrid midfielder with the appealing combination of speed, power and endurance.

Opinions from rival clubs vary on what the Tigers will do.

Some believe Robey would be too good to overlook. If the Tigers didn’t select him, he wouldn’t get past either Essendon or Melbourne.

Most would be shocked if Richmond overlooked Taylor, who’s seen as a possible long-term replacement for the likes of Nick Vlastuin and Nathan Broad. But would the Tigers prioritise midfielders at the pointy end of the draft? And would Essendon or even Melbourne have a similar mindset?

The Tigers arguably don’t have a player with running power and speed like Grlj on their list. But if they don’t pick Grlj, he could slide past several clubs and land somewhere in the middle stages of the first round.

The only other prospect in the Richmond mix would be South Australian midfielder Sam Cumming, yet it’s more likely he’ll land at one of the Bombers or Demons. Fellow on-baller and statesman Dyson Sharp continues to be heavily linked to Essendon, while sources believe another SA player in Cameron Nairn – a shrewd 188cm forward and consistent goalkicker with a great tank – is being considered by Melbourne with one of its top-10 selections.

I reckon CDT and Robey will be off the table at picks 2 and 3. Richmond will want 2 x 1sts to overlook Robey which we wont get.

Any sort of trade up scenario then involves either Essington (e.g pick 5 and 21) or Melbourne (eg pick 7 and a future 2nd) reaching for Taylor or Sharp.

In reality, either way I think our first 2 picks will most likely be Robey at 3 and Grlj at 4, 5 or 7.

In the off chance we take Sharp with our first pick, and one of CDT or Robey are still on the board, I'd expect Bombers or Dees try and get that pick out of us to nab them.
