Only thing that confuses is your second point. How does this make sense? “Essendon are likely to call our bluff on Robey and seem happy to get Sharp or Cumming if we did select Robey (which we won’t be).”
How can they call our bluff when we have the two picks before them?

This was in relation to my previous post when at the time I was told the club was hoping to force a trade with the Bombers where we slide back a pick and get a future something but from them knowing we weren’t as keen on Robey as the other 2, but the latest I’m hearing is that wont happen and Essendon are happy to wait and use their existing picks.

This is interesting. Would be a huge departure for Richmond to take two South Australians with first round picks. Conca is the only first round pick Richmond has taken from a 'go home" state(ie QLD, NSW, WA, SA) in the last 20 odd years.

My money would be on they would only take players from these states or now Tasmania where they rate those players clearly above Victorian options, as opposed to rating them marginally above any Vic options.

Cumming isnt South Australian.

Hes from the Vic/NSW border. Basically a Vic Country kid who went to boarding school.

Thanks it's all good1234, love it. I can see why we don't rate Robey and won't take him. The draftees chillin at the hangar is somewhat meaningful too. What would we be saying if Robey was photographed at punt Rd? Of course it means something. In the end I don't mind too much who we take. I trust the club enough to just be excited about whoever they take. They have so much more information to work with and they have to choose based on social factors and club culture too. No DH policy please. We have to watch these kids in interviews for a decade so only good characters, thanks.

Sharp will be a star, similar to Rowell. Crazy how much people cooled on him considering he dominated nationals and captained the best state team. In 3 years he’ll be the one wrecking oppo players and feeding the ball out to our silky guns, TT and Hopper are irrelevant to the future midfield discussions imho.

I think the smokescreens for us this year are Taylor and Grjl.

As has been mentioned I get the feeling Sharp and Cumming are our targets. I think we overlook Robey.

Think we could potentially split 4 with Dees for 7 and 8 with other picks going back however it opens up Cumming to the Dons which we won’t want.

So gut feel is we will just pick the guys we want and my gut is telling me that’s Sharp and Cumming which I’m absolutely happy with.

Meaning Robey likely gets to the Dons but at the end of the day we take who we like and I’m quite confident to back in Blair and the team that we’re picking the best long term guys for our club

I have thought this over and over. I do want Robey, but playing devil's advocate, we do have a Robey type in Lalor.
But a Cumming Grjl 'speed combo' and Taylor best backman would be an excellent trio.

On the other side take out Grlj & add Sharp & Farrow and ask would you give up 2 of these to get Robey?

Keeping in mind they dont have the luxury of having added 7 first rounders last year. I think theyd prefer the 2 but you never know.

We've had 4 linked to us. Cumming the weakest but still a link. Fair play to Blair & Rhy if hes our guy.

There's been no link in the media to Sharp. If that's who we end up with then take a bow Blair & Rhy, you are playing a different game to everyone else
