Just had a quick look at the Melbourne board to see if there was any desperate urge for Robey.
Didn't read too much but looks like they'd be more likely to trade down than up.

They're mentioning names like Cumming, X Taylor, Grlj, Nairn & Pickett.
You do realise they have as much influence over what their club does as we do yeah?

Although there is noise that West Coast takes Sharp at 2, I think West Coast drafts Duursma and CDT at 1 and 2.

We then draft Robey at 3.

I think pick 4 is out of Sharp and Grlj. With the depth we have at half back and Trainor being told he is being moved off the wing to half back (and training there already) I can't see us taking Taylor. But who knows.

Cumming I reckon is a low chance.
I think so too. Matty Clarke will go best available with those high picks. They have added fin McRae and Devon Robertson to fill the glaring need to make their midfield somewhat competitive.

Hmm yes a number of questions have definitely been used there from the list.

Good to hear the answers to them though.

Will just need to make what I do more post draft related and maybe more about the process on how we landed where we did.
One thing i'd like to know, we hear often about how the club tracks these players from a long way out 2+ years etc.

How does that influence and account for late bloomers and bolters in a draft class?

Also, do they go back over older drafts and maybe analyse why they didn't have a player rated higher than what their performance at AFL level has shown that they should have.

My reservation around Robey is I think he will make a great third forward and can counter a great lead up half forward but at AFL level he will only pinch hit in the midfield which we've already got Lalor and Hotton that can already do that.

We are screaming out for a young gun midfield specialist to take the reigns from Prestia and even more so defensively who we constantly get chopped up by the opposition and Sharp is our man to change all that.

No doubt Robey will a great player at the forward half of the ground but he's not the clearance beast like Bont that a few compare him to.

He's actually more of an outside player than people make him out to be but he won't get the same amount of space at AFL level imo. Statistical reference rookie me central below

Despite his physical makeup, Robey racked up his possessions at a rate of 68 per cent uncontested. That allowed him to utilise his kicking power to break opposition zones and send long balls over the back.

I can foresee Robey having the devastating finishing skills of someone like Caddy who was pivotal to our 2017 flag supporting Jack. He's kicked 18.2 in 9 games which is extremely impressive (as a joke he won't fit into our club culturally with that type of precise finishing )

My other reservation is he's come into a strong Eastern Ranges side with the likes of Greeves, Dovaston (who I rate very highly), x2 Taylor who carry a lot of the opposition attention and as such he's performed very well without close attention initially.
Would he perform similarly at a struggling side like Western Jets?
It's a hypothetical but if he performed at Vic Metro level I'd be more inclined to get him but we'll have to wait and see how he develops.

I'll tell you what would've been great to see.
Robey v X Taylor with one on one battles at Eastern Ranges training in the forward half of the ground.
Honestly who do we think would take the chocolates in that battle?

Ive just told him that gecko boy on big footy should watch his games with both eyes open. He didnt know wtf I was talking about 🤷‍♂️

That’s fine, tell him I hope he has a great career …. At the bombers
No one has a great career at the Bombers so pretty content whoever we pass on we wont end up regretting it 😂😂

Forget about his junior role. Look at his slickness and composure.

Think about it. At worst he will be a solid broad replacement. At best, he can be anything.
why don't we just grab another mature age, pick 60s WAFL player, when we want to replace Broad?

we should be replacing Dusty and Cotchin with picks 3 and 4

I’ve only heard lots of “best available” in the media. Haven’t heard a single media person saying “Richmond are into Robey”, which is interesting.

And I take with a grain of salt all the social media posters claiming “I know a guy…”, but when not a single one of those has mentioned Robey either… just makes me wonder why.

Literally this week Jasper and cal have said we have put a lot of time into Robey on gettable and espn podcast. And cal in his phantom on Wednesday said we are strongly considering Robey.

and Grockadoc and DontArgue4 have said they’re info suggest we are into him? But they don’t count for you?

This is interesting. Would be a huge departure for Richmond to take two South Australians with first round picks. Conca is the only first round pick Richmond has taken from a 'go home" state(ie QLD, NSW, WA, SA) in the last 20 odd years.

My money would be on they would only take players from these states or now Tasmania where they rate those players clearly above Victorian options, as opposed to rating them marginally above any Vic options.

Edit: I have been corrected by another poster on Cumming, who is not South Australian, rather he is from the Riverina area originally. However, he has been living and playing in SA in his late teenage years.
Jon in 2005 but I get your point.

We didn't draft any Victorians at all that year.
