How did 2025 treat you?

4992 with Zorko left, finished 10k last year so improved. Not a bad year, minor drop off just before byes and just never really caught fire again.

Yet again 2 years in a row trying to get that last rookie off the field, made the wrong choice and spent too much time fixing it.

Home league: didn’t make finals due to most points against

Promotion league: made the gf but lost to a guy chasing a cap

Keeper side: heavy favourite, runner up in the gf to a team that favoured youth. Rowell Anderson stunk up my classic and keeper. I’ll never forgive em

Favourite player to own: Grundy & Bont in that last part of the year.

Favourite POD: Darcy Cameron

Favourite rookie: Tom McCarthy

Ranked 21,418

Season keepers - Gawn, Smith, Daniel, Leake, Livingstone

Captain average - 117

Favourite "POD" - Adam Cerra

Horror season started round 1 when I threw my preseason team out the window, followed every bit of news and loaded up on GWS players. Rank 57k after round 1, down to 67k in round 2, and playing catch up ever since. Clawed my way back to 23k by round 8, took another six weeks to climb up to 13k, and then I missed a trade in bye week and plateaued for the rest of the year.

Final rank 3780

Year riddled with rookie errors and the usual cursed luck

So many weeks early in the year where I just forgot to do loop holes and then late in the year rd 23 I leave the C on Jackson for a 56 captain...just inexcusable and sure sign that I'm passed my peak

The early jump on Grundy was the only nice part of the year. Holding Roz and Butters for last round was a nice way to end. But never getting Bont was a mistake. I think I got Anderson over Bont a few weeks ago, just brutally punished for that

Finished up at 1887.

Think I topped out at rank of around 360 the week before Whitfield went down. Never recovered from that as I chased uniques, hat chasing.

Thanks to all on here for the season. Always a heap of laughs and a numerous shrewd operators giving out great advice.

Did the board end up with any hats? I know there were several in the hunt before I checked out a month ago.

See you all again in 2026, hopefully with less bye rounds and no Rd 0! :S

1050 overall in the end, my best rank I’ve had after a few years of being bothered to play properly.

Probably my worst mistake was having Levi stuck on my bench with no DPP to then see him go 115 against the suns. Trades were pretty good, got in NWM under a mill.

Friend of mine was 60 points off a hat

2978 overall rank.

Was rank 1700ish a few weeks ago but luxury trades and just players becoming shit late ruined me.

Season keepers: Holmes, Rozee, A.Reid, Bazlenka, C.Daniel

Gained like 6k ranks in teh byes from like 10500 to 4500ish

Average captain score was 123.5 - VC 134.1 and captain 116

Had all rookies off-field reasonably early with great team value that shouldve put me in top 1k areas, just had the wrong players at the wrong time late in the year.

My best year since my hat year so cant complain too much, the Rozee donut a few weeks ago kind of sapped my interest for the last couple of weeks.

A really good season derailed by some terrible moves (looking at you Briggs) and some rubbish luck (Walsh and Caldwell injuries on debut).

Keepers: Sheezel, Dawson, Baz and Ed Richards

On to next year, thank you all for the laughs and insight!

387 rank overall.
pretty darn happy with that rank. The byes were a real changer for me gaining about 2500 spots to top 1000 really pushing me up.
Season keepers: Holmes, dawson, Rozee and Boyd
Ended with Baz but had a 3 week period without him.
One move i regret doing was clark over wang preseason thinking clark can avg better with his high ceiling (lol). Cost me about 250 points before i got wang in. Hat changer that. But overall, pretty good

Overall Rank 408

Biggest regret: Not starting Dawson (started Walsh instead and might've finished close to top 100 if I did). Never had Dawson in my side the entire season.

What worked: Bye weeks structure - Started the byes at 3,600 rank and ended up at rank 585. Best bye weeks I've ever had. Focused on being heavy on the first 2 byes. Which allowed me to breeze through the rest of them fairly easily.

What kinda worked: Set and forget rucks - Started Xerri and Gawn. Looked like a huge mistake in the first 4 weeks when TDK was owning my ass (almost traded him in at one point which would've been disastrous), but I held firm and Gawn was my best pick of the season. Did shuffle around a bit when Xerri needed to go but ended up with English and Gawn at the end who were the best 2 all season.

Best trade in weeks: Round 15 - Jackson (144), J Daicos (101) and Liddy (74) for Gawn (then got him back in after his tough run), E Hewett, Boxshall. Round 22 - Dunkley (132) and Callaghan (124) for Merrett and Liddy

Tips:
- Do not be afraid to trade out a player who you think is fully priced and is about to go on a tough run. You end up making cash and points on the rest of the competition if you trade him back in at the moment he starts performing well again.

- Do not give up. I was 16k ranked in round 1 then blew out to 24k in round 3. Thought my season was done. But kept going at it and making smart trades and making cash. Then slowly gained back ranks until I jumped massively in the byes.

Oh and my team value ended up being around 25.4 mil. Gave me almost two whole extra premos to help manoeuvre the final few rounds. Didn't help a hell of a lot because those players were Caleb Daniel (who consistently ended up on my bench at F7) and McCarthy (who I never traded out in the end, just used him as cover in the midfield and backline).

Final ranking 20. Been a long journey to the hat. Didn’t post a huge amount in here but did swing by now and then to get some feedback which was always appreciated.

The main change this year was just focussing on timing and backing in match ups (trading out of bad, and in to good), as well as not being concrete around trying to get the ‘best’ team as soon as possible. Had a couple of nice mid priced runs with Noble / Cerra / Long / Maric / Kerch but also managed to cut them loose at the right time. Didn’t get overly fixated on cash gen (L campo stuck on my pine all year - not that that’s a good thing) vs. just trying to get points on the board and letting the rest take care of itself.

And an absolute shitload of good luck!!

Final ranking of 6,148th which is a new best for the men’s version (finished in the Top 300 in the W version last year) and finally won a league grand final for the first time, but unfortunately a BF Div 7 GF loss for the second time in three years.

Was nice to spend the first part of the season in the Top 500 too

Nailed my C/VC for the majority too

A streak of weeks where I was copping one forced trade a week didn't help things

Sub rule gone for next year praise the lords!

But apparently also they will also look to introduce last touch between the arcs, Rather than insufficient intent.

Don't like the last touch if it happens, rucks will have a big drop in points and even mids as there will be less stoppages...
But imagine the cheapies for the halfbacks who would most likely pop up to mark the kick in from those last touch frees
