The AFLW draft will be held on Monday, December 15. The time has come to start discussing. Nobody seems to have kicked anything off - so here we go.

This will be the first draft where future pick trading (2026 picks only) will be a possibility.

Gold Coast seem to have 4 of the top 6 rated players coming out of their Academy (at least according to RMC power rankings: https://central.rookieme.com/afl/power-rankings/aflw-draft-power-rankings-september-2025/. You only need a selection within 18 picks to match a bid. They can use their pick 19 to match to bid any pick however high. Therefore they can trade back pick 1 for 3+ picks in the early second round and match bids on all those players which seems doable to me. Lucky Suns!

The Swans (my club) have two Academy players that we are going to be keen to get (Alex Neyland (KPF) and Madeleine Quinn (ruck-forward)). Currently we have pick 10. I would think we will either want to trade up to get ahead of the bid for Neyland, or, more practically, trade back so we can get multiple picks and keep one for bid matching and one or more others to trade for players or take another good draft pick.

What are your clubs likely to do? What players do you want to pick?

Here's some info about the draft combine and results:

There is an elite Basketball player named Ella Gordon that has just signed with Paul Conners young gun player management.
Ella is 195cm tall and would make her the tallest player ever in AFLW history.
She’d be 2 inches taller that the tallest currently and 5 inches taller than the average AFLW ruck.
