Since last we played in Round 6, 2025

Carlton
Out: Young, Walsh, Cottrell, E Hollands, White
In: Docherty, Fantasia, Pittonet, Cincotta, Binns

North
Out: Corr, Tucker, Duursma
In: Hardeman, Pink, Hansen

So we play TDK forward and Pitto busts his absolute gut out for two and a half quarters before TDK is unleashed on a tiring Xerri.

Fantasia as sub to be fresh when the transition happens.

I really wanted Lemmey hut this works.

I think they’ve done something similar the last couple of years against Gawn. Haven’t subbed pitto out but, if I recall the worked Gawn over pretty good for the first 3 quarters before Tom jumping all over and running Gawn into the ground in the last quarter

Rather conservative selections this week. Straight Pitto for O'Keeffe. We have obviously decided that we couldn't take anything away from the struggle against the Eagles and the Bombers the week before.

Strange for me, since Voss made a point of talking about the VFL and young players in form after the Eagles game. I felt we were sure to see one or two more debutants.

Yes, I do know that we have seen a handful of debutants this season, but the fact remains that only 1 of those debutants has been selected for this match. If Charlie does not come up on Saturday, then it looks like Young will be the replacement. A debutant in Harry O'Farrell is in the emergencies so I'm not sure if there is a question mark over Weitering or Silvagni, or we were waiting to see the North team.

As it stands, we can cover them with our present setup, unless Comben goes forward at times, or Dawson is a late change. But then, we just switch Gov back and leave TDK and Curnow/Young up forward against Logue and Pink.

At any rate, it's a weird emergency bench.

Silvagni would be a watch

I believe Voss knows his job on the line took the easy route to be 7 Wins 7 Loss would need to upset good teams to make the 8 and not lose the games at home against Port Adelaide, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Essendon and Brisbane that would give 12 wins. Collingwood, Hawthorn and Fremantle along with Port Adelaide away you need to win 1 or 2.

Feel for Lemmey here—not only is he overlooked for selection, but he’s not even named in the emergencies.

Given the quality of the opposition and the strong block of games he’s put together, I really thought he’d earned at least an emergency spot, if not more.

This feels like the kind of game that could come back to bite us. Voss appears to have gone with a conservative selection, likely influenced by the pressure mounting around his coaching career. But with our patchy form and ongoing struggles to finish second halves strongly, this might be exactly the type of match the opposition sees as a real opportunity, a young, energetic side with nothing to lose.

Hope I’m wrong.

The way that is named, Fantasia will have a rotation as sub. Recent weeks last named has been sub. Pitto in means likely to get another look at Flynn Riley in the twos, which I welcome as he is an excellent understudy
Could easily be Carroll as sub also.
Would have liked to have seen Lemmey blooded against Norf, but I think we're at the point where Vossy and co will play "safer" bets and try to get wins with known quantities. Plus Pitto is deserving on form, sure.

Anyway, whatever, just get the 4 points ffs.
Yeah between the above experience stats - though barely beyond an extra half a season despite being a full 2 years older - and the ladder situation, he's clearly keen to play the best available side for immediate performance, then manage the pace of the game if we have a big first quarter.

Personally I think it's going to cost us late in the season, whether we make the 8 or not.

Who else has put money on North to win?
4 to 1 was too good to knock back.
Now watch us win.
I do like those odds, well done. Roos have shown a good deal of improvement recently. On the other hand, we are going

backwards at the rate of knots. MV and MC continue to put their trust in old hacks , instead of debuting young and

enthusiastic new blood. Lemmey and Wilson will get their chance, sooner rather than later. But, it really should have been

this week, imo.

We look slow. I think we’ve missed an opportunity here to expose some young talent.
Voss going for a safe win, which may actually backfire. I hope I’m wrong.
I get your concerns. Unfortunately Voss does err on the conservative side, opting for experience and grunt. At the moment with Lord, Binns, Carroll and to a lesser extent Ollie adjusting to a new role, we have enough youth playing. We are nit rebuilding, it is more an on the run reset/rejuvenation. O’Keeffe has been a good introduction as well, unfortunately cut short.

I am not a McGovern “lover”, but he has been very effective since moving forward, and is somewhat envigorated. Charlie was “soft” rather than soft tissue last week and he owes us a bit. No great drama bringing Pitto back off dominant form at the lower level to combine with Tom who absolutely needs some more exposure as a forward.

Hoping/expecting the likes of Wilson, Lemmey and perhaps Ben C. get some exposure to the top level, with some more for HOF in particular and the return of Cowan and maybe Boyd. White likely gets some more games and we may see Flynn Young over the back end of the season.

Hoping it is a club focus to blood the youngsters and we don’t get the Voss conservatism in the back end of the season. Having said that, players need to earn promotion rather than being for the sake of it.

Do we want to play kids? Or do we want to win? Can’t have it both ways
If voss cant play kids AND win - then that is further proof that just having the second most number of players playing in the competition AND the second most debutants IS JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH - also he doesnt teach them how to kick as good as Crippa who is now an elite kick off both foots!

PS also mafematics is BS.
