Jay-Z
North's Enforcer
Whilst the discussion thread normally goes up on a Thursday, my wife told me it's better to get it up early than not get it up at all.
The final round of the byes is upon us. Last round of 3 trades. Unless you're bettingonbetts who apparently gets 3 trades next week by special decree from Gillon himself. A lot of popular players on the bye this week so things could get interesting.
Most are coming around to 'complete' teams at this stage (or like me, plonking the great moustache man Tom McCarthy at D6 and pretending it's the same thing)
Last round brought some carnage with Whitfield subbed off on 23 because he "wasn't feeling great" cough, not concussion, cough. Good news for non-owners is he'll be around 900k in a couple weeks for a nice upgrade option. Coaches that brought in Jackson were treated to a explosive display on Thursday night with a 144 while coaches that went to JHF instead were treated to some explosive diarrhea as the pea-heart limped into a 67.
If you're one of the 32% of coaches still holding on to LAshcroft, it's time to let go. Also, I'll see you in the 2026 pre-season thread shortly. Of course, brother Will Ashcroft is another popular trade out target for those smart enough and brave enough to keep him for one final ton last week (I wasn't, I traded the traitor last week). Former favourite, Zach Merrett is also in the proverbial cannon for many owners after a 57 last week and just one ton in his last 7 games (trigger warning though, he has GC and Richmond after the bye). While the great trade/hold dilemma of the week is obviously Whitfield.
For the trade ins, previously mentioned moustache man TMac is the obvious #1 rookie target with a solid 1 game avg of 101 and a BE of -25. Other popular rookie options include Liddy (Avg 58, BE -10) and Dewar (L3 avg 80, BE -14)... though we don't mention De War.
For those beyond rookie concerns or who've already been lucky enough to snap up some of these gentlemen, there is Mills (L3 89, BE 63), McKercher (L3 92, BE 47) & old mate Doch (L3 105, BE 58) putting their hands up as value on-field options. Then we have the unicorn Darcy (L2 114, BE 80) who seemingly can do whatever he wants when the dogs are bullying teams at Marvel. L Jackson (L3 117, BE 68) is another option if you're not concerned about the impact of Darcy's return. NWM is as popular as ever with a L3 avg of 123 and a BE of 94, though he doesn't have a great history at Optus stadium where he plays Freo this week. Serong is red hot (L3 131, BE 63) but if you didn't pick him up off his bye you may have missed your chance as he's now over a mil and probably copping the Windhager tag this week.
Welcome to round 16 AFL Fantasy Discussion and as always...
