R Steele deserves the extension, he’s just shown enough this season that he’s got a role at AFL level and especially a role of need in our squad.

Hayes however seems once again like giving out additional extensions to young talent willy nilly, if I’m Wright that he had another year to go on his contract. Don’t get me wrong, I like profile and he’s got the raw tent to be given a chance but he is not proven at senior level and his body type is against him so I’d rather we stop giving these types extensions too early (unless generational talent like Nick). With our lower access to high draft profiles we’ve got to accept cycling through young talent as none of them are the full package.

IF it was our future 1st and future 3rd for Simpkin and future 2nd I might have some interest.

Unless relationships are bad between Simpkin and Clarko thry would be crazy to do that.

We simply can not burn another future first on an average footballer especially with far better targets on the table next year that we need to be able to have a play at

Yeah remind me what is the objective of the game? To out score your opponents.

Ginni has a greater goal, disposal and score involvements per game average over his career than Schultz. Literally the only statistical category Schultz is ahead of him is tackles per game.

Schultz is already starting to pick up a lot of soft tissue injuries and you don’t see too many pressure forwards playing deep into their 30s
You see, the goal kicker doesn't get to kick those goals if the opportunities aren't there. If the ball is not locked in and the ball is constantly rebounding out, the goal kickers don't kick goals and look silly.
If, however, you have a Schultz in your side, who, through his undeniable forward defensive skills, consitantly locks the ball in giving said goal kickers their pportunities, then they look like champions instead of looking silly.

you started off by suggesting this new list spot might be something GC use to get JUH. That was nonsense. Watch for the rules that come with this new list spot if it is introduced.
Aside from anything, JUH is a contracted player, he can’t be traded to a rookie list. The idea that he had anything to do with the new rookie spot was complete nonsense.

One is a clearance bull and former dual MVP winner. His down year still has elite clearance and tackle numbers.

The other is Simpkin who has been pushed out of the North Melbourne midfield.

They're not the same.
Not saying they're the same but Oliver was also being pushed out of Melbourne's midfield.

Roos have a very strong midfield group with a number of high draft picks, too many for all to fit in. Simpkin has the flexibility to play forward so they are going with their young mids.

Oliver may have a higher ceiling but he has a far lower floor. He's a risk. Without knowing the details of contracts it's hard to know who would be the better option. I'd be more comfortable if we signed Simpkin than Oliver though.

The future 1st should be enough in itself…

If it was us giving a future 1st and getting their future 2nd back I would do it.
