If we end up with first pick, which I think with our injury concerns is a 50-50 proposition, then I’d be calling out Walker’s name if he’s the best player in the draft. At least it would mean Carlton burning draft capital to match the bid and again highlighting the flaws in the current AFL draft model. Plus, clubs are only interested in the romance of father-son prospects when the player is an elite talents. Look at us, we bypassed Kellaway and selected his great mate with a late pick that could have been used on Kellaway.

Not Jack Pickett's strongest performance, but worth covering given he's a top 10 contender in this pool. He started the game playing deep forward, starved for opportunities with the Stingrays dominating territory in the opening term, and increasingly roamed up the field as the game progressed in an attempt to get more involved in the play. The Falcons midfield was under pressure all game, leading to the quality of ball entering their F50 being poor, but even then Pickett was caught out of position on a couple of occasions. In spite of his struggles Pickett still managed to slot a couple of majors and take two strong contested grabs which showed the qualities that we'll no doubt see more of as the season progresses.

The Kellaway situation was not great. In saying that, looking at where we are at atm with no ruckman - they probably shouldn't have recruited him & instead taken someone we needed right not.

Still think Mason Cox was the guy. Cheap as - competitive beast. Tall and imposing. You don't have to love the guy for him to do the job you need. If we had taken him for free, there is absolutely no doubt he would be starting ruck right now
