Waverley could fit more than that though.Only 4 MCG games in the last 20 years.

Issue with Waverley being positioned where it was, the so-called "growth" region of the average location of a Melburnian - you couldn't just expect Footscray fans to drive across Melbourne to show up at the same rate as fans of other clubs.Waverley could fit more than that though.
Wow, surprised Hawthorn v Bulldogs has never pulled a bigger crowd than that in Victoria in 100 years of matches.
Pretty poor but I guess they're two smaller Victorian clubs. The record H&A crowd between Melbourne and North Melbourne after 100 years and about 90 matches at the MCG is just 36,966.
That's less surprising, given South Melbourne were terrible for their last 40 years, their fanbase dropped off after the move and Carlton played at Princes Park the whole 20th century. Also, the record H&A crowd between Carlton and Sydney/South Melb was set more than 90 years ago.

To be fair anything less would be absolutely terrible.
Should be a Dusty 300 vibe. That day sits as probably my favourite moment at the footy (outside of 17 and 19 GF of course).
Anything under 90 would be very disappointing.
Seems quite low no?33,883 at Adelaide Oval for Port Adelaide vs Western Bulldogs
It's taken a while since Optus was built but it finally feels like it's becoming a cauldron for Freo home games, place was electric last night.Proper real footy club Freo. That crowd sounded/looks nuts. 70,000 seems a no brainer. Especially for ROI in having to make no structural changes.
Freo has always been bigger than Port Adelaide.Pretty average crowd from port when all things are considered. Starting to think WA is the true #2 state given recent tv ratings and the fact that Fremantle wouldn't drop to crowds of that figure and the eagles are still drawing, despite how terrible they have been.
That’s a great crowd! North Melbourne are playing well and their fans are genuinely engaged. This match could easily be a 35-37 k type number next year if they continue their trajectory upwards!Something around 28,000 at the Docklands.
To be fair we are playing are a very pitiful Eagles team that won’t be supplying much opposition support. The Hawks had a fair few supporters for the Dusty milestone game.
Still reckon the Pies can bring 90,000 of our supporters though.
I watched that game. The crowd had to be at least 40% Swans supporters. Saw so much red and white on my TV screenThat’s a great crowd! Here we go again...I watched that game. The crowd had to be at least 40% Swans supporters. Saw so much red and white on my TV screen
There's a lot of gaps. Would be low 70s at best IMO, but I'd love to be proven wrong.Looks to be 80,000 plus at Cats vs Pies
Sounds about right.9,416 for our match vs Essendon. 7th biggest crowd for an Essendon game at Engie (out of 10 games ever played).
I attended the previous Giants Essendon game in 2023 and there were definitely way more Essendon supporters there than tonight which appears to have seen a sizable drop off. Pretty sure the Essendon cheer squad bay was near full and the other side of the stadium was much fuller than tonight with Essendon fans in 2023.Sounds about right.
Few Essendon supporters, especially when compared to the number of Hawthorn supporters for Opening Round.
Are there fewer Essendon supporters in Sydney? Or are they less willing to travel, given how their season is going?
There was a decent crowd in the Sutton and members' stand, including in the top deck.
But they closed the top deck of the Cumberland and Sinclair Stands.
Of course, for TV the cameras point at the stands where the top deck is closed rather than the ones where it's open.
So the crowd was much bigger in person than it seemed on TV.
For all the problems people have with the AFL umpiring etc., the falling crowds were always a furphy.Looks to be 80,000 plus at Cats vs Pies. For all the talk of sinking crowds, we haven’t had a disappointing MCG crowd since round 1.
