So its Lloyd's fault regarding our subpar list management?
If you believe it’s subpar then blame Lloyd as he was in charge

Yeh exactly. It's also why I'm hesitant of just moving on all of our senior players and doing the full scorched earth rebuild. Just think it leads to the team getting smashed every week, low morale, young players have no one to learn off and coach inevitably gets moved on.I agree, you don't stop playing a certain age group at any point in time
No one can question Ollie's commitment, but he had poor foot skills as a junior and will only marginally improve in any environment
As a counter Ison has always had elite footskills, and when he refines his game, those footskills will be a threat at all levels

Ollie had poor foot skills as a junior?
Not from my memory.
There’s been profiles saying he rushed his kicks under pressure(which has presented as a problem today) but at the time of the draft l don’t think his kicking was seen as poor at all. I would like to go back and analyse his junior footage and really critique his kicking to see if it was actually an obvious problem because l don’t remember it that way.
It’s easy to throw these comments in now with his kicking being very inconsistent. People can read them and assume they must be true based on current performance.
You have been working at afl club level?Ollie's kicking was rated as average at club level. Some slightly lower or higher. That's now become evident at the next level
BA & WH are in direct competition for the forward roles - there’s only so many that can be selected in the B23
Florent is different as wing / backline but ball use is average, not what we needed further of in the team.
Soapy I was surprised Austin remained when Voss was backed last year. If it were up to me Austin would have gone two years ago. Our list make up is terrible with too many of the same types (ie low skill and speed level).Actually it was Lloyd

Still a butcher of the footy. Would look rubbish in this current Carlton teamBailey Smith currently carving up for Geelong, and has something that we severely lack at Carlton which is break away speed and ability to explode from the contest.
Obviously Geelong have the "country-side" vibe and the Cotton On Cash, that meant we were likely never a chance at landing him, but he was traded for what was effectively Pick #17. Can't help but feel like we missed a trick in not pursuing that trade more.
I suspect it was actually one of our Club's most notable flaws - which is our inability to accept any player with a shred of an image problem - that held us back from pursuing him, rather than any football rationale.
Until we stop being a soft-corporate Club, we will continue to fail.

Tbh, i think weiters should be, great leader and happily pulls players into line as well. Something we severely lack. I dont quite think Walsh has that presence or bravado if you will.Yep agree with those names. If Elijah can keep on his current trajectory then I think he can end up on this list by seasons end but everyone else is in the block.
A huge turnover at seasons end is required. We have to tap into every option…free agents, under age draft and the mature age secondary league market.
Agresta is gone now so hopefully we can get someone better at recruitment. Wright needs to make a decision on Austin because the list manager role is critical.
IMO we sack Voss during the bye, let the caretaker assess this list, then select a new coach before seasons end with a clear view of the players he wants for his regime.
Cripps needs to stand down as captain. Walsh is the natural selection. We need 100% alignment between CEO, Football Manager, List Manager, Coach and Captain.
Well I'd rather have an explosive, accumulator with an elite tank and ability to break lines over someone like Cerra. Who's disposal is only marginally better, has no ability to break the lines and is constantly injured.Exactly
Bailey Smith is EXACTLY the type of player we need, even to the point of his dickhead traits. We have no outright extroverts with mongrel and it's about time we went and got one.Bailey Smith currently carving up for Geelong, and has something that we severely lack at Carlton which is break away speed and ability to explode from the contest.

I’m saying our current setup makes a 2x Brownlow medallist look rubbish. Do you think Smith would be playing to the level he’s at right now if he’s at Carlton?Well I'd rather have an explosive, accumulator with an elite tank and ability to break lines over someone like Cerra. Regardless, we need to transition our midfield into one that is competitive in the modern explosive game and Bailey Smith at 25 years old (now, 24 when traded) would have been a perfect acquisition.I’m saying our current setup makes a 2x Brownlow medallist look rubbish. I do like Jagga, Walsh and Walker. Walker has the ability to explode from contest but maybe not the raw top end pace of some of the games stand-outs at the moment. I don't know much about Ison too be honest, is he explosive?Jagga Walsh Walker Ison Lord is a potential good midfield combination. If we can add some outside run we are in a good spot
Butters would be perfect but way too expensive.
Wilson is more of a HB but has the traits an I’m hoping Motlop under a good Coach can step up
IMO we only need one like a Young Smith to really transform us
Key for me is still more structure than talent

One of the main parts you actually need leg speed for is defense. We just keep having the ball walked out of the contest by guys we can't catch - like Kozzy Pickett. So it's a non-ball in hand thing as well. He’s not explosive but an elite ball user. More a Pendlebury/Bont type as opposed to a quick runner
I’ll take ball use over leg speed any day
