Another example of where we need to be ruthless but are not willing to do what’s the best thing for the club. It might sound harsh and I pity the poor bloke, but we gave him multiple chances and he couldn’t hold up his part of the bargain. I doubt he ever plays AFL again, he can’t handle being in that environment, so we should be moving him on.
It's possible we can't. Without knowing more about Elijah's situation, it's not possible for us to know whether the club has an option of putting him on the Inactive List or not.

You might be right with Williams

I just can't forgive Williams and McGovern for the shape they turned up in and then money they took, then didn't care, when we needed them most

Now with new contracts needed, they step up. Sh1ts me

They disrespected the jumper and the club and I have trouble getting past it
Injury free in contract years too!

Starting to feel very good about our TDK & Curnow list management decisions... Especially with how Florent and Hayward are performing.
I don’t think we were ever going to pay the TdK salary. I think the Charlie trade, was one of the decisions that cost Austin/Agresta their jobs.

I suspect Austin’s demise had more to do with Elijah. We heard from insiders that Wright wanted him gone but Austin wanted to give him another chance.

As for Agresta, I’d imagine his demise was on the cards before Curnow departed. IMO he should have been sacked after Stocker and Philp were delisted.

So it looks like Melbourne, Collingwood and now Port are keen on Flynn Riley in the MSD.

I can't believe we haven't got a free spot with Elijah on the LTI.
It’s probably because of the optics and backlash we’d get for doing it.

Clubs copped enough bad press over the past month.

What was the issue with Stocker and Philp delisting?

Agreed. Cripps wouldn’t be in the best 5 players ever at the club. Guys who were pivotal to winning premierships should be rated higher. I didn’t see enough of Jezza and Big Nick, but from the highlights seen and stories I’ve read they are probably our two greatest ever players. In my lifetime Diesel, Bradley, Sticks, Johnston, Doull, Kouta and SOS were all better players than Cripps. Possibly Ratten too.

Guys like Bradley, Ratten and Diesel would have won half a dozen BnFs if they played with the same players Cripps has at Carlton.
Ever the Brownlow has lost a lot of its shine. Carey and Gary Ablett Senior are the two best players I’ve ever seen and neither won one. Shane Woewodin, Libba and Adam Cooney have. Our current CEO Graham Wright was runner up one year.
Woewodin won it the year it should have been Kouta's - what a farce!

It would be a shrewd trade if we someone how worked Cripps and our GC pick into a top 20 pick and then picked up Neale as a FA. I think the cash would be similar but we basically turn Cripps into a faster contested player with many years left in them and gained an extra first to use this year.

Gaining Buku, Neale and Amartey while heading to the draft could be what we need. It would be a hard sell for Neale however. Unless we offer a longer term deal.
Neale is going back to WA.

Ok… so I didn’t want Elijah back on the list. I said it repeatedly over summer.

But don’t forget the way the AFL works. They would care very much about “the look” of him being put on an LTI list about four or five weeks after his episode. Don’t rule out that we may very well be under pressure from them not to go that route. And yes… I can hear people say that Carlton would once have told them to take a leap. But I also think we need to pick our battles. If the pressure has been coming from above, then my thoughts are this one was probably not a battle to pick.

It may not even be our choice. The AFL have to sign off on any player going on to the Inactive List. And it can only be for one of two reasons - retirement (player's choice), or season-ending injury. If it's the latter, then the AFL medicos need to be convinced that Elijah's mental health and well being means no footy this year.

Only Carlton could find themselves second bottom and unable to access 2nd pick in the MSD. Typical own goal.
Crikey! Willy's Joel Fitzgerald keeps racking them up.
Another 38 disposals and 145 ranking points last night. Following on from 37 and 129
40 and 174
27 and 129
35 and 138
35 and 134
24 and 93 in his previous matches.

He doesn't look anything special on highlights, Melbourne are hovering apparently.

Doubt he gets to Melbourne.

If we did open up a spot, good chance we'd take him.
