Taking votes is a myth. Voss,Aker,Black, Ablett,Bartel,Judd,Cousins - they're won in pairs.
Top teams get a heap more votes divvied up amongst the star mids and whoever of them has a vote catching year goes really well.

No. Lewis has stated all year that he is staying and waiting until second half of the season before discussing contract terms. Hawks recently offered him 4 years on good coin. They will push him out to play lead up. If King goes there Chol will be cut and Dear will explore his options. Dear has put off contract talks

Wells was a smooth player but he wasn't a dual brownlow medalist and not playing at the level Neale is

Honestly... They are confident they could get 3 OOC big names this year. If the Cats get any two of Wilson, Butters, King and Toby there needs to be a full investigation into the club and its operations

guess it all comes down to which club the player nominates. If Zac nominates us, we get it done (even if at great cost). Similarly, if Matty nominates us, we will get it done. I certainly would prefer to lose first round picks in 2027 and 2028 than this year, given the impact Tassie will have

Wells was offered just a one-year deal by North because of genuine durability concerns and had a long history of injuries before he arrived at Collingwood. That's why the contract we offered him was ridiculous

Lachie Neale is a completely different case. He has been remarkably durable and, despite being 33, is still performing at an elite level. This year he's among the competition's highest-rated midfielders and continues to produce elite clearance and contested-ball numbers.

Have a look through that team - the Smith talk wasn't for huge money. Holmes signed in 2024 before he would have been on big money. Jezza and Danger would be on veteran wages. I think they'd have a lot of cash to splash.

We held the cards on that player and his future just like others do it to us with contracted players

We gave up future 1st (was about pick 20 in the end), pick 36, Noble and Richards.
We got Houston and a pick in the 50s.
Pick 13 and Lukosuis went almost straight from Gold Coast to Port (you could argue Richards added a little). Gold Coast got 2 future 1sts for pick 13 and Lukosius.

We never had a chance at pick 13 for Noble alone. Maybe Noble and our future 1st might have gotten it. The pick 13 was in a very strong draft. Everyone wanted to get 1st round picks for that draft.

This could probably be how we attack our midfield regeneration. Assuming we dont get butters and have all our picks, i can see us getting 3 midfielders from this year draft. The problem we currently have is that, aside from swadling we have no one else in the reserves who is ready to step up. So we desperately need an infusion of fresh talent.

Can't even use beau as a trade bait because he is probably set on going to tassie, and his value would have taken a hit of late.
