Maybe..or maybe the best thing would be for him to play a full game of minutes in the game against the academy kids get miles in the legs, and rack up 30+ and play the following game in the AFL. What's the rush. It's not R21.
Because we’re still a chance for finals?

Until it’s mathematically impossible, I’d play all our guns. If Hotton is able to run, play him too.

Hohoho. . Surely you're not serious. We are a couple of years from finals. You have seen our list right.. you are watching games I assume? Not just our games, but other oppo teams too? We are a LONG way back from a competitive team outside the bottom 4. When the last few draft kids have 50 games we'll get a better idea and may push towards that 8-12 group. Finals...well some like to stay positive I guess. Realistic goals are important too though. Let's focus on winning one game first.

Few tweaks to the game plan and she’ll be right.

Should try pagans paddock but with Fawcett.

I’m not against flooding the backline either.

I'd 100% be with the conservative approach if we intended to play him for the rest of the season but we clearly don't.
It makes no sense to not play him at AFL level. I don't understand the conservative approach in this specific scenario.
Giving him any exposure at AFL level is going to do wonders for him mentally considering he likely knows he is going in for surgery after the mid-season bye.

Put him in the ones on managed minutes and let him build his game time where he belongs.
As he goes in for surgery after the bye round
Hopefully josh smillie is ready to replace him

No where near ready for debut. Way off the pace and looked like he was labouring a lot to get to contests. Will be better for the run around but not even close to afl yet
Well he either debuts or probably doesn't play this year, right? 3 week break for the VFL, so if he doesn't debut in the AFL until after that, then he's barely going to get any games in before surgery

What round do we think they'll make him go in for surgery? What's the latest it can be without impacting pre-season?
Probably around mid June'ish - whatever round that is.

Could even be later
The pre Xmas stint of the pre season is generally just running and fitness base so even if he’s still confined to non contact drills it wouldn’t be a big loss so he could probably get it done as late as September

As long as he is ready to go for the new year would be the most important factor

Around round 15. Is that based on a 6 month recovery? As Muddiemoose said it could maybe be a bit later, but in any case I guess that means around 8-13 games, depending on whether he comes in next week instead of after the VFL vs Academy match, and whether or not the surgery is a bit later.

I was being ultra conservative where he would be available for full training day one of pre-season, which I'd honestly prefer.

There’s 5 on the bench now just get him in
Exactly, we waste bench rotations like nobody’s business usually so why not give one to someone who could move the needle a bit?

Based on the injury report they are going to be taking the boring and conservative approach.

Might as well debut him in SA. Club then won't have to accommodate and fly his family over, thus saving a few shekels. Better used for digital bricks and SEEK ads for a new strength and conditioning team.

His family is from Wentworth NSW. Accomodation and REX flights will be required
