Mark my words, this kid is going to surprise a lot of people.
Alright, I’ll bite:

  • you’ve talked a lot about his versatility previously. Which position do you think he ends up in and why?
  • what past or present player would you say is comparable to his ceiling?
  • obviously the lack of continuity he had as a junior dragged down his draft number. But what do you see as the key areas he needs to work on before he can have a successful afl career?

Geez MP, I can see it now from Inside The Kennel, "Thanks for your kind words & questions, we'll be back in a moment after this add break". :D

No need to feel like you are biting, just by enquiring about a new lad.

His best position is high half back. He may have scope to move onto a wing.

Perhaps I'd liken him to a Jess Sinclair if he gets the best out of himself - similar height too, though Hugo currently has a slight frame.

As he finds more of the footy, he is going to be a serious proposition, as he has all the athletic attributes, work ethic and smarts. I'd like to see him add a couple of centimetres in height, which is likely.

From his footage, I see a tenacious, lock down small defender who's got the wheels to go with the livewire small forwards.

We've been dying for one of those.

Like it, but off the back of nothing but a few highlight reels, he looks more attacking than that. A few who can defend first then counterattack is what we need in the back half.

Lol. I went to school in FNQ for part of year 12 and they buddied me up with this bloke that was a huge unit. Lovely fella. He offered for me to be in their scratch rugby games at lunch time because "you can kick the bloody ball pretty far". I was 70kg soaking wet with rocks tied to my feet so declined on account of wanting to survive.
hahaha,,,,when I moved to Sydney, took my young bloke down to the local rugby club and signed em up for the U10's and had the registrar talk me into signing up for their over 35's despite my protests that I'd never played before and I was an AFL guy...."even better you can kick, and don't worry its all very sociable we drink a bottle of port on the ground with the opposition before ever game"....anyway, went to training once thought yeah I'll more than hold my own, 2 days before the first game against Gordon, I inured my meniscus so had to sit it out, went to watch the game.......came up against 2 recently retired former Wallabies,,,,,,3 of our boys ended up in the ambulance. Can't say I was at all disappointed to miss and have a knee surgery.
