And my favourite bit was this:-

Got Setanta to sign my new #17 Carlton jersey and I must admit his reaction was a bit of a surprise to me. He thanked me about three times and said how flattered he was that and I have chosen his number. He was truly honored! He wished me all the best, shakes my hand and thanks me again. I felt like a million bucks!

Uh oh. But then if you read this it will make you a bit sad...

Went up into the social club and the boys were just doing long kicking, saaw WHwatching the boys train.Came back down and i was with hartletts sponser and we had noticed that Adam was missing, asked around and someone had told us that he had tweeked his hammy. So of course we started to panic. Coz really youve got to feel sorry for the guy, he trys his heart out but injury gets the best of him.

Training finished up inside MC Hammer park but the boys went onto the ourisde oval to do there sprints. Me and hartletts sponser stayed outside waiting for Adam to see whats the go. He finally came out (very pee'd off but he was trying not to show it) He said he has done his hammy on his oppisite leg and was just going home to ice it up then go and get scans done so he'll let us know on wednesday what happened.

Also read on there that they are picking up Cam Cloke with the second PSD pick, unless another club gets him of course.

I'm really sad for Hartlett with his injury. Poor kid.

Thanks to bluesgirl in csc for that.

yes, that's my question - because, Harts was fine on friday at training

Training this morning.

Horrible news. They said that he'll know by wednesday what's happened, as he's having scans asap.

NOOOOOOOOO!!

I am going to make another thread because it shouldn't be under a thread titled ":)"

TERRIBLE NEWS!

If we have room for Teague, Bannister, McLaren, Saddington then we have room for Hartlett.

McLaren is one of two ruckman at the club who can play AFL football. We have room for him.

The rest are only there because we need experience on our list and we couldn't delist all the hacks in one draft... although by the looks of things we did try.

Hartlett is a 21 year old injury prone key position player at a club filled to the rafters with young key position players who has yet to play a single game at AFL level. If this year mirrors last year and the year before that I'd be upset if we didn't delist him. Spots on an AFL list are too valuable. I'd be looking too rookie him if he does get delisted however.

Fair enough rookie him, I think that would be a great option if he didn't play much next year. But if there was one more list up for grabs and you had a choice between him and Saddington who is an injury prone 28 year old (next year) who would you choose?

I think its probably a bit early to write him off. He hasn't even tucked into the christmas turkey yet, much less had the last disappointing season of his career.

Its pretty clear to everyone, Adam least of all, that he needs to do something, anything, this year to keep his spot - even Bannister and Teague have played well enough to get a senior spot and performed at that level on occasions. Lets just hope they're resting him now rather than kill him unnecessarily (folks - its December. Season starts in April. lets not go overboard just yet)

Don't get me wrong there. Nothing would please me more than to see the big number 23 hold down a key position spot next year and cement his place in a quality young side. He is one of my favourites and if rewards come to those who work hard, he'll get there, I'm sure.:)

I bumped into Setanta and Aisake @ Crown one Sat nite last year. They seemed to really appreciate being recognised and appreciated by a loyal supporter. Chatted for quite a few minutes and (as hard as it was to understand their accents) they just came across as really genuine lovely guys -none of that pretense we're used to seeing from other bigger stars in the game (from other clubs of course!)

Can I call a friend...

Honestly, I would keep Adam and get rid of Saddington despite the need for experience at the club.

I gather that Adam is a pacey young fellow?

I have noticed that in football (soccer), a lot of the really quick wingers tend to do hammys a lot and although they do come back fairly quickly, it goes again just as quick.

Maybe he just needs strength training in his legs to really build up his hamstring muscles. Although this will affect his pace a bit, but I think losing 10-15% of your pace as opposed to spending months out injured during your career is an acceptable loss.
