Look at that picture...majestic.

Recruited at number #38 in the 2001 AFL National Draft, from Oakleigh U18s, he debuted in Round 11 2004 against Collingwood, and got himself injured in the third quarter.

Since then he has become a key part of our forward structure. So much so, that of the 14 games he played in 2006, West Coast won every one of them. Our lucky charm did not play in a losing side between the 2005 GF and Round 7, 2007.

His talent both on and off the field has been duly rewarded, with 2006 WCE Rookie of the Year and the Inaugural Chris Mainwairing Medal for Best Clubman hanging alongside his 2006 Premiership medallion.

Whilst 2008 was hampered by injury for young Ash, we did see flashes of brilliance, such as a career-high 23 disposals in Round 16 against the Lions.

Watch for a stellar return to form in 2009.

Discuss.

Ashley talking about the new coaching structure and game plan in an interview with the WCE website.

WEST Coast forward Ash Hansen has flagged big changes to his side's game plan in 2009 following the arrival of a number of new coaches in the off-season.

Scott Burns, Phillip Walsh and Daniel Metropolis will join senior coach John Worsfold and new football manager Neale Daniher as assistants.

Hansen said the new coaching structure had spent more time and effort on the Eagles' game plan this off-season, with the burden of off-field scrutiny less of an issue at the club.

"They've introduced some really good ideas that we're going to have on-field in our game plan, and that can lead to on-field success as well," Hansen said on Thursday.

And further on in the article...

Hansen, weighing a career-high 97kg, said his own role was also set to change, with a move closer to goals likely after injury allowed him just 13 games in 2008.

But the 25-year-old was confident extra work over summer with the club's physios would see him play at least 20 games for the first time since 2005 and allow him to have an impact up forward.

"I'm really confident, with the work I put in over the summer into my body, that it's going to be an injury-free year and probably my best year to date," he said.

Thatta boy!

Big Red is one of the if not the most accurate shots on goal in the team and if he stays injury free could have a big say in us climbing the ladder again.

Kicked a lazy 4 goals in the intra-club match on Friday...looking good! :D

What a solid start to the season from Ash!

Booted 3 majors against the Lions and a goal last week against the Power, if the big marn can stay injury free he's bound to have a 40 goal season.

I hope he kicks a bag against the Saints on Saturday
