The Grant Thomas resume. Based on Cornflakes' history, Jars would need about 10 first round draft picks and the ability to play 15 games a year indoors to make us competitive by 2008.

There is no way we are anywhere near as bad as what the Saints were.
In the short time Jars has been coach at North he has got the results simple as that.
Why not appoint him to a coaching role at the AFC? We have the money for it!
Why do we have to let him stay in SANFL for x amount of years, sooner or later someone else will snap him up.

Who does everyone else reccomend?

Back when Thomas took over in 2001, St Kilda had a group of:

* elite, but aging players (Harvey, Burke, Loewe, Thompson)
* a range of rejects from other clubs with limited shelf life (Capuano, Davis, Callaghan)
and
* a heap of untried kids with potential (Dal Santo, Maguire, Ball)

Does that mix sound familiar?

This time last year Rehnnie was the Coach of the Millenium. This year his team won't make the five.

I'd have him as an assistant, no worries. Just not in the main role. And in terms of $$$$, we'd actually be saving money by appointing an untried coach from outside of the system.

Well, to see how he goes over a longer period of time that 17 rounds of footy. If he can sustain it for a few seasons fine. And if he draws interest from other clubs down the track, then surely that's a better scenario than we currently have where no-one but us wants Neil Craig. At least if Jars was a popular target, you'd have a better idea that you'd be getting value. And if it cost us an extra $100k, it'd be worth it.

Whoever Mr Eade says we should have ;)

To say we "don't need a Victorian in the box" is to say that we have the best possible selection of assistant and specialist coaches right here in SA, right now. Clearly not a sustainable argument. We (and the incoming coach) choose the best available, wherever they are from.

Rehn had a decent side to work with in 03, he then had a large hunk of players drafted away from him which leaves a significant hole. From what he has been left with i think he has done alright.

I dont want Jars to be head coach next season, i think he would be better value as an assistant coach next season and for many seasons to come yet. He has a great football brain and a person who can communicate with his players.

Im not saying we dont need a victorian as such, if he is the best candidate snap him up asap what im saying is, if we had a choice between 2 blokes of similar capabilities i would want a south aussie
