Lloydy was marking everything in the first quarter, then get a corked thigh and didn't return
Jay Neagle was very good at FF on Mal, took a strong mark and kicked 2 more after the ball hit the ground
Mal Michael was strong one on one, didn't look too bad
Richie Cole was very very good today, wouldn't be disapointed at all if he was up for selection
Bachar looked very very good today also, got into the game quite a lot and used it well
Jetta and Davey were in and out today, didn't do a whole lot
Peverill was crap! imo
Hirdy was rusty but was good to get a run
Gumby moved quite well but didn't kick much late in the run
Dempsey is getting better and better, looked quite confident out on the wing
Paddy spent a lot of time around CHB again
Winders was good through the middle
Andy Lovett took a heavy knock and left the ground, should be ok
Kepler is a gun when he's no playing KP
Jobe and JJ worked well together
Welsh and McPhee are looking quite good also, hopefully they keep it up
Campo, Dyson, Johns' and Nash didn't partake, probably a couple of others also
Jason Cloke got a run and did ok

I was very impressed with Dempsey, he had the ball on a string out on the wing.

Davey's defensive pressure was excellent, he must of ran down at least 5 or 6 blokes out their today.

You beat me by 5 mins posting a thread about todays prac-match:D

Wish we could get more posts on BF about training and intra-club matches.
BomberBlitz gives me the sh-ts sometimes. Todays reports on BB have one person saying Cole was crap and one saying he looked fantastic.
One saying Lloyd did a groin, another saying a hammy. Was it just a cork?

Neagle sounds like he's really doing well at Bomberland:thumbsu: Good to hear that Laycock and Welsh had good games...Peverill's form is a bit of a worry.

What is the god damn story with Gumbleton? Has he been told to keep off his right? Does he look proppy when running and kicking? What is the real story?

Sounds like Jetta is struggling at league level, while Danny Chartres looks like he has adapted nicely:thumbsu:

Houli seems to have found the pace of the game to his liking and really gives the impression that he will be the first draftee to get a senior game.

Good reports on Hirdy. Every game and training session he gets thru I breath a sigh of relief:p

Thanks got the update.
Shame i couldn't get down to watch it...
I'm holding off for the Ess - All-Stars game.
Should be a beauty!

Heres what the club had to say.
Lloyd back kicking goals

Saturday, 3 February 2007
Essendon supporters breathed a sigh relief this morning with Matthew Lloyd making an excellent return to competitive football at Princes Park. Lloyd moved freely during the intra-club practice match, making a number of strong leads and kicking two goals in the first quarter before being taken from the ground with a minor corked thigh. His next hit out might come against the indigenous All Stars in Darwin next Friday night.

It was a promising hit out for Lloyd who had not played a competitive game for almost 10 months as it was for James Hird. The Essendon champion was anything but dominant but he got enough of it to show his 2007 preparation is on track.
Richard Cole was the standout performer during the morning, running hard off half-back and using the ball well. After an excellent pre-season he is well placed to push for a position in the Essendon seniors come round one. If he retains his fitness he could become a permanent fixture in the Essendon back six.
Alwyn Davey continues to push strongly for a place in the Essendon senior side using his pace to great effect and exerting excellent defensive pressure. Leroy Jetta also moved well and his skills were polished.
Jay Neagle lined up at full forward at the opposite end of the ground against Mal Michael and he did exceptionally well kicking four goals in the first half. Two goals came via loose ball gets and two from strong marks.
Bachar Houli and Damien Peverill both started the match very well. Tom Hislop worked hard around the midfield contests and his strength and hardness were a feature. Jason Laycock showed the benefits of a solid pre-season and his ruck work was a feature.
Andrew Lovett left the ground with a bruised chest but is expected to be available to play for the indigenous All Stars next week.

Adam Ramanauskas, Ricky Dyson (hamstring), Andrew Lee (Foot). Jay Nash (Foot), Courtney Johns (Rested), Scott Camporeale (Achilles) and Kyle Riemers (Quad) did not play.

Thanks for that, I havn't been on the Essendon site this morning.
Neagle looks good!
Only problem is that there are already stars in our forward line.
Michael had 4 goals kicked on him in the first half... doesn't sound good.

That's not true Nobs. All said he played well, but sometimes tried to bite off more than he could chew. Knowone said he was crap ;)

crap might not have been the word used, but one of the BB posts said he played poor....what ever word they used...just wish everyone's match reports were the same or close to it. It gets confusing.

Too many Spelling mistakes for you Einstein

at least they take the time to write some reports and Not everyone's opinion is the same...

not spelling mistakes,I couldn't give a hoot about spelling mistakes..except player's names (if you're talking about my complaining regarding the constant mis-spelling of Danny CHARTRES name on BB)...laziness:rolleyes:

and yer you're right..not everyones opinion is the same..but i wish after a practice match there wasn't a race to see who can't post the first report on BB and then list incorrect injuries and get goal kicking numbers wrong.

That's My Boy!!!!

As for Michael, he is behind the rest of the group, but will catch up in time.

The quote from BB about Cole was
"His disposal and awarness are both sketchy",then goes go to say how hard he goes at the ball....i concede knowone called him crap and his reports were mostly in his favour, but for all these people going to these training sessions and practice matches I wish there was more detail. A few should pick out a particular player and watch his every move instead of trying to remember every player.

I'm still not convinced about Lloyd yet. Killing Danny Chartres and bagging two goals in a practice match doesn't exactly get me jumping up and down with excitement yet. He should be left out of the Darwin game, just to be safe.

Winderlich sounds like he is getting it together.:thumbsu:

Nobby.
I think you should be happy that these people take the time to report anything at all.

They don't have to do it and to actually ask them to "stuff up" their viewing of the match or training, to just watch one player, so they can report comprehensively on him, well is pretty selfish.

Just appreciate what you get for free from the people that put the time in.

Thank you to those who have taken the time, both on this site and BB......Thumbs Up
