So tell us, what were you expecting from him or do you like a few on here lump him into the ' he was recruited from X club and cost us X amount and X draft pick so therefore will be judged more harsher than others if he doesn't live up to my expectations ' category.

He was introduced to bring us inside and outside midfield grunt and not to plod around looking busy and putting more pressure on the rest of them. If you broke down the post I quoted, RT was saying that Ablett was greater than the sum of Martin and Cotchin and Prestia has to play a different role. Do you honestly believe such rubbish as by having two A graders around him now then he should be freed up more and doing damage? Get it? There are no excuses except for injury and fitness , but that's been squashed now as he's run two lots of 15 plus km games. Just compare him to any mid who is earning big money and that should be what is expected of him.

Thats the problem though. Those that are pissed off with his performances were seemingly expecting him to have stats like he did at the Suns when he was second fiddle behind Ablett in most stats. At Richmond we don't need him to be that player, we need him to be a role player that allows others to play their roles better/more effectively, whether that is stars like Cotchin and Martin or guys like Grigg and Lambert.

In my view, his work rate indicators suggest he is fit. The coach has said his run and spread is elite. Yes I agree his disposal has not been great.

You must analyse his performance holistically from a standpoint of what is his assigned role from game to game as part of the team structure. Not sure many here know what his role is from game to game. If you do, then well done on having a hot line to Damien and the line coaches. One that was discussed publicly by the coach was his mid run with roles for both Brisbane and GWS. So who did he run with and how did he impact team and opposition performance? Some games he played an attack transition role, so how was his forward and defensive running, metres gained for the team and score involvements?

The coach knows his role. Only he and the coaching staff can truly rate performance. As stated previously, I attended the mid season review, where the complete list was rated on performance . Prestia was not an outlier. And I'm not discussing any others.

His performances to date were exactly as I expected and stated prior to the club getting him.
Playing beside Ablett, Cotchin or Martin has nothing to do with it as it was also used as an argument why his performances would rise.
IMO he is playing not far off the best he is capable of.
His disposal isn't elite, has doesn't have elite pace and his inside game isn't elite, like some thought prior to him landing at RFC.
As Damien Hardwick recently acknowledged, he gets lost around stoppages unless he has a starting point , which was something Dion has allegedly also brought to the attention of the coaching staff and was the impetus of him wishing to undertake tagging roles.
I think he has a really good chance of being a very good tagger against smaller type midfielders.
Was pick 6 and comfortably over 600k a year to much for this type, I think so.

With us Cotchin and Martin are our prime movers. So Prestia isn't required to be a high possession getter. Nor is he required to be a clearance and contested ball winner. His role for the most part is to be another link in the chain between the D50 and the F50, which he is doing.

As KiwiTiger said sometimes that role requires him to be defensively accountable and other times to be an attacking player depending on who we're playing. Obviously to those that really matter Prestia is performing his role well most weeks.

So you're ignoring the fact we have 2 prime movers in Martin and Cotchin so we don't nnecessarily need Prestia to be the possession getting midfielder he was at the Suns. It would be great to have him doing that and he may get back to that role in the future.

I actually did realize that it was for all possessions even those to opposing team, I didn't realize they measured differently in the states as I don't watch a lot of NFL these days.

yes i agree with wet weather football being this, but your previous post has no significance unless we are certain of exactly how those meters were gained.
i still closely look at how clean a player was when under pressure and Dion went at 52%DE under little pressure .

Pretty amusing that a player on 700k a year is getting the run with role while Lambert who is playing for peanuts and was doing the run with role is now playing a more offensive role.
While on Lambert im stoked to see him doing so well, and good on the club for seeing something in him that I certainly didn't see.

Yeah have certainly stood your ground, but are you saying, the level he is playing at is the same as it was at the GC or did you predict he would go backwards?
