Its now time the WRFL go 3 Divisions, the gap between div 1 and div 2 is not that great if you compare the bottom 3 of div 1 to the top 3 of div 2 in most recent years, but the gap between the top of div 1/2 and the teams down the bottom of their respective division is becoming ridiculous.

With 21 current teams in the WRFL, a 7 team per division competition would see less blow outs, more interest created during the year compared to dead rubbers after round 14.

Looking at this years ladder, the top 7 teams in division would remain the same with them all beating the bottom 3 teams in more then not one sided affairs. Sunshine would not have a win, yet was talked about the team most likely to push Albion and Spotswood this year.

The season could remain 18 rounds with each team player every team 3 times. The bottom Division one team would be replace with the Premiership team of division 2. If they choose to move up to the next division. The wooden spoon winners of division 2 would be also replaced with division 3 premiership side, but to keep the evenness of the divisions the 2nd bottom team of division 2 would play the grand final runner up in a relegation/promotion match.

Thanks for reading my post, I'd like to hear other peoples thoughts.

Bye each round in every division is not ideal....although neither are 200 point beltings

League needs 3 more clubs.... Should try to entice werribee amateurs point cook and weribee centrals over

ah true, good point. I did not think about the bye in each division, without other teams coming into the league (who can be competitive with division 1) as you stated nothing would change with the beltings.

drop the bottom 3 teams of div 1 and bring up the div 2 premiers
8 teams in div 1
8 teams in div 2
leaves 5 teams in div 3 with 3 clubs to join giving 8 teams also

fixtures are made for 2 years so everyone has even amount of home and away games against each club
promotion relegation happens every 2 years unconditionally for wooden spooners and premiers

That won't work, your not going to get 3 clubs to come to the wrfl and then tell them that it will take 4 completed seasons for them to get to div 2, plus what if the same team wins the div 2 flag in both years? who is the 2nd team to go up if they had beaten different teams?

None of those clubs would join.

Port Colts came into Div 3 i think it was of the F.D.F.L. and worked their up.

The EDFL is introducing a 3rd division just over halfway next year after each team play each other one, there 14 teams in B Grade

If AFL get there way there will be no WRFL, EDFL, EFL, NFL so on......

THere great plan is to introduce a confrence like system similar to basketball.

you finish top 4 in your confrence you move to the next stage, where the best play the best from each conference.

they are trialing the fixture in NSW at the moment and that includes some teams from Queensland

the conference you play in is determined by what ZONE you are in

eg: western Zone (Western Jets) (WRFL) would include sides such as Werribee Districts, Werribee Centrals, Old WEstbourne, Melton, Rockbank and so on

Can you please explain in a little more detail?

One option would be have a North & West Metro Premier League, something like
- top 3 teams from WRFL Div 1
- top 3 teams from EDFL Div 1
- top 3 teams from NFL Div 1
- top 1 team from Riddel District

Similar to UK soccer, the bottom couple of clubs would be relegated each season, and the GF winners from the feeder comps would be play off for the two promotion places.

This would leave around 18-20 clubs remaining in WRFL, EDFL and NFL so nicely fits 2 divisions each.

Importantly, with the elite teams in in the new Premier division, the WRFL, EDFL and NFL comps should be more even.

A similar arrangement could be done in the South & East, combining the top few clubs from the EFL, SFL and MPFL.

Hypothetical, how would the WRFL and Divisions look if we add the following teams: Werribee(Premier C VAFA, 2nd) Werribee Centrals(GDFL, 3rd), Westbourne(Div2 VAFA, last), Point Cook(Div4 VAFA, 6th), Williamstown(Div1 VAFA, 2nd) have I misssed any other teams?

DIVISION 1:
Spotswood
Port Colts
Albion
Werribee
Hoppers Crossing
Altona
Sunshine
St. Albans
Deer Park

DIVISON 2:
Werribee Centrals
Albanvale
Parkside
Williamstown
Yarraville
Glen Orden
Sunshine Heights
North Footscray
West Footscray

DIVISION 3:
North Sunshine
Westbourne
Point Cook
Caroline Springs
Laverton
Braybrook
Wyndham Vale
Coburg

As stated earlier. Werribee love the ammo comp, as do point cook, westbourne and willi. Centrals like playing in Geelong. I would be shocked if any came back, especially werribee and willi who are moving up the grades well.

Any truth in the rumour Werribee Centrals are thinking about following Werribee Districts lead to move to WRFL. What level is Geelong District league equivalent to in WRFL? I would guess Centrals would be near the top of Div 3.

Come on TT, time for PC to come over, D4 starting to struggle, a team may not field reserves in that comp this year and another pulling out this week.

It's possible as they do appear to have lost a lot of players this year to WRFL div2 sides. But you would need someone close to the club to tell you where they are at..

Yep ammos need to pull their socks up.

I personally think it might be time for a change, however I think that's best for the club, I still prefer the ammos.

I'm no longer involved at PC other than a supporter though, so my opinion counts for very little.

Would never happen, the club is a point of difference in Wyndham. Semi country footy with a lot less egos and agendas.

The netball part of the club is a huge draw card and if they moved to WRFL that opportunity would no longer be there.

Will be young this year and will probably struggle, but centrals always rebuild and will be strong again in time!

Big change of thinking by you TT

I've always thought PC is a sleeping giant due to area and facilities but now wonder if they do go across to WRFL what will happen with Sanctuary lakes being so close

Fair bit of water to go under bridges before one non members opinion means anything. Let's not get excited

Haha I'm far from excited mate but ws just commenting on your change of kind as I know how against it you were/are

I still prefer the ammo concept, however I think the changing landscape of football locally means the way to success, would be in another format to what PC currently operate in. In regards to SL and PC coexisting, they have done so for a few years. We might not lose as many players there going forward!
