About a month and a half ago, I decided to switch from my ever trusty Nokia 8310, with excellent coverage (Telstra) because it was costing me way too much. So I decided to go to 3, I'd be paying only $84 a month - and could spend up to $400. Perfect!!

All was well until my phone decided to stuff up. The "media" option was now known as "menu", inbox was then "incoming when abroad" etc, etc. The dictionary on sms, did not work and neither did the camera or calander settings. With every intention to get it fixed, suddenly, perhaps 5 days later - my phone fixed itself. Or so I thought..

I turned my phone off today, and now it won't turn on. At all. Half an hour on hold to the customer 'care', Ryan from 3 picked up my call and told me to take it to one of their service places. Well fantastic. It has been an absolute joke, the LG phone in particular but not to mention the coverage is less than adequate in my hilly area.

Never again, in my life, will I buy something other than a Nokia.

A friend of mine, with the same phone (LG U8210), had the strange menu button thing happen to her too. Anyone else?

great phone you got there erin :p

ive had no problems at all with my nokia 3120, its always working at battery lasts forever (well for me anyway).. spose its a really great phone..
sounds like they are screwing you around a bit and not really caring about your complaint which is not good for customer relations.

good luck anyhoo with it and hope you getting it working soon

I've always had Nokia except for two of my mobiles... ANd have been greatly impressed... Currently have a motorola CDMA and its working pretty well sooo far...

I’ve got a nokia 7250i with Telstra and its going strong.

I’ve got a few mates with the 3 network. They also have the LG or one of the NEC phones which seem pretty crappy other than its 3g compatibility, mp3, and video. The coverage is the worst I have also seen too.

I won’t be changing from Telstra/Nokia anytime soon.

3 Phones are pathetic... there is a reason why you get that LG phone so cheap on a 3 plan. The phones are useless. My Brother and Sister are on the same 3 plan with the LG phone and hardly a call goes by when you can barely hear them or it just drops out. Both of them are regretting going over to them

I used to have an old Panasonic with a Telstra pre-paid kit which had a habit of switching itself off all the time, and the batteries never lasted long. It had the stupidist looking charger I've ever seen.
Couple of months ago I switched over to a Nokia 3100 with Virgin pre-paid kit and it is much better, the battery lasts 5 times as long as the old one, and does a much better job.

Only difference with the carriers is Telstra has a better coverage and less drop outs than Virgin with the hilly terrain around here.
But in a lot of the country areas of Tassie, you still can't get any mobile phone access anyway regardless of the carrier.

Better than Vodafone though, the reception sucks even in the suburbs.

I've got the NEC and haven't had a problem with it. Very happy with it.

My brother has an LG phone that works pretty well, however the previous one was full of bugs!

I prefer Nokia as well, however I bought a Motorola C350 that my partner uses (as his phone died) and it's not too bad. My little 3110 just keeps rolling along though so I'll just keep that I think. ;) The battery life is less and less but I hardly use it anyways.

You'll probably find that Ryan from 3's real name is Raja and he's sitting in a call centre in Bombay.

If he gives you the squirts more than an Indian curry ask him how they did in the cricket recently.

Speaking of which this gave me a bit of a chuckle

Sony Ericsson Z1010 on 3 here, and I couldn't be happier.

I seem to be one of the minority who can't stand Nokia's (and I've had four of them). Cheap as hell crap produced for people who would prefer something that looks 'cute' rather than being functional. All four of my Nokia's (all different models) had major screen problems.

None of my Sony Ericsson's have ever skipped a beat, and they've been to hell and back.

As for 3, I must just be staying in the right areas. Very rarely less than a full signal, and my bills are under half what I was paying with Telstra.

Hmmm that doesn't sound very good does it. My brother and friend both have that LG phone, and it's great. IMO, the LG seems to be the best three phone, it's best stand out is the large 32MB memory as the others have either 19MB or as low as 2MB....useless when taking photos and recording videos and sounds.

BTW, does anybody know how many MBs the NOkia 3100 has?
