When do you think I'll get used to Chappy in an Essendon guernsey?

Yeah he may have some poor games which every player's entitled to have but they'll pail into insignificance when looking at the little master wearing our club's gear.

I think criticism is a little harsh at this stage. OK so he hasn't won games off his own boot in the last 8.. he has been playing much 'higher' on the ground and having less opportunities.

Also he is in the twilight of his career, a bit player if you like. His role is to act as a mentor and hopefully provide a little class around goal.

The mistake being made is the amount of on ball minutes he is playing.. keep him at the feet of Daniher and he should be snagging 2-3 goals a game.

Agree with this 100%, much more damaging closer to goal.. BUT I know speaking from experience, when the delivery/supply just isnt coming in you definitely start to want to get your hands on the pill so start to push up the ground a bit or the coach moves you in the guts to try get into the game.

Think thats the situation with Chappy, our midfield quality of delivery has declined since our hot early start to the year unfortunately. I'd keep Chappy in the side still when hes fit (unless Fantasia is banging down the door at VFL?)

Fantasia has been flashy at VFL level.

Chapman has been fine - Only game that he looked old was against GWS - He gave off some quality possessions against Melbourne - Unfortunately players weren't good enough to take advantage.

He was playing so well at the start of the year so I think it may be best to give Chappy a mini pre-season and give him a 3-4 week spell. Give him a coaching box role so not to totally alienate him but we need him back to round 1-6 form.

Winderlich isn't exactly saved but he laid a nice foundation.

As for Chappy I have no ****ing idea. His talk during the week of wanting to be the best Essendon player he can be etc had me fired up but tonight was ****ing shit, Chappy.

Bounce back buddy.

Is it a coaching structure thing or just the evolution of the 'modern game' that he seems to play up more in the midfield now?

I hardly see him in the forward 50 much. he was so damaging in the early rounds playing deep and kicking bags

Needs to be told to anchor himself in the F50.. too slow to play midfield now.. getting burned on the fast break anyway..

Thought he was probably a bit emotional tonight.. would have been odd for him..

has to play deeper! I'll forgive him for this week it would've been a really tough time for him emotionally to play against the cats and his mates. Our youngsters will be learning a lot from him and I'm sure he does a lot of coaching on the field. Right now I don't see him continuing next year but there is still a lot of value to get out of choppy this year. Love having him and hope he finishes on a high note. Even though we lost there are some good signs that players are starting to find form and gain confidence. Hurley and demps played much better and we have one of the best young midfielders going around at the moment in Heppell.

He has been ordinary after a breathtaking opening to the year. Really hope he can rediscover his early season form in the last few rounds.

xactly, not sure why excuses are being made, has has really struggled since round 2-3. There's a couple of other Cat veterans that clearly have regressed this year as well so should be no surprise. Doesn't deserve a game atm. Thought Kavanagh did more last week. Zach should have clearly started ahead of him. Maybe use Chappy as a sub like doggies use Gia.

On AFL 360 tonight Gerard Whateley said Chappy will hang the boot up at the end of the year.

Did anyone see this? Was this Whateley opinion or good oil?

An opinion.
