For a start I think we dont have anyone who can do the job well on Fevola without a lot of help.

I suspect we'll look to tag Scotland with probably K.Cornes.
Carrazzo is another who has been getting under the guard, possibly a job for Cassisi.

I think Walker is probably a good matchup for one of the Burgoynes.

Im a bit worried about Waite....... job for Pettigrew?

I must admit I havent seen a lot of Port play so I am a bit blind ... is Pettigrew athletic? and would you guys put a hard tag on Carrazo and Murphy or will you guys try and play free flowing attacking footy? Fev would prolly be your main concern up forward, but who do you have to match up on Fisher? or Lappin if he goes up forward?

did any port supporters watch the carlton doggies game.?
and see how fev used himself as a decoy. And lappin Who Kicked 5 Goals and murphy kicked 2 had a lot of goal kickers they will be a handfull for Port we could see maby another goal kicking shootout. ?

May the best side win :) doubt it be a big margin 10-15pts either way .
better going in to next game of a win then a loss more loses you have the closer to a win you will get
ohalpin kicked a goal on Sunday :)

I'm not sure what 'past high scores' means exactly to be honest, but if you look at the people around him, ie. Deledio, Schammer etc. you can see how athletic he is ;)

Well then he would be a good matchup for Waite it should be a interesting contest between those two

grew is still learning the wares of being a defender (first season in defence)

Williams seems to prefer playing Thurstans on the more athletic forwards (Franklin last week)

I'd expect Thurstans to go to Waite initially

I would expect Thurstans to go to Waite too, especially at the start of the game, then I would expect us to revert to a zone defense as soon as the game begins, surely nobody could manage to play one on one without considerable help from our coaching panel.

Then after that I would expect to see our forwards lead deep into the pockets or flanks and for us to take all day to chip the ball here, chip it there, backwards that way, chip over here, at all times keeping within 5m of the boundary line when moving forward as per coaching instructions.

I would also expect us to never move the ball on swiftly, never to play on, never take on an opponent and never ever show any attitude or passion for our club.

Thats what I am expecting from our coaching panel this weekend (again). Nearly forgot, and I would also expect us to play tempo footy if we happen to get anything resembling a decent lead no matter what stage of the game!

Should be a ripper!!

I think you guys are prolly underestimating your team ... Like us at Carlton you have a few good young kids in there and it will be a good match, pretty even .... But I can see you guys winning as you have some more experienced bigger bodies in that team compared to us. Will be a great game though and I will be happy if the Blues can be competitive for 4 quarters.

The defensive matchups I suspect will be something like
Waite - Thurstans
Fev - Pettigrew (oh dear)
Fisher - Bentley
Lappin - Surjan
Lance - Wakelin
and whoever of Lonie and Symes survives gets whoever the other one is

In the midfield Kane, Dom and Wilbur will get the most dangerous mids to watch, don't think there's anyone they'd start off with a tight tag

Would we bring Carlile to match up on Fev?

From what I've heard, he's done some fair stopping jobs in the SANFL.

Why not? It'd be a tough day at the office for him, but we need to start training up one of our younger defenders to be a genuine give-up-your-game stopper. Drop the wingmen back into his leading space if need be, that'll help out.

Do Carlton have anyone good enough to man up Westhoff ;)

Surely you are joking, the kid has played one game of footy.

He is a good sanfl footballer at the moment and hopefully for you guy's
he turns into a good afl footballer

Saddington will get the job and on recent form should
do it easy.

At least Pagan doesn't think we're soft ...

Don't believe Port's 'soft' tag: Pagan

for carltonfc.com.au

CARLTON coach Denis Pagan is refusing to buy into Port Adelaide’s newest tag of being ‘soft’; a moniker given to it by the Adelaide media this week.

According to Pagan, one look at Port’s recent form and player list is enough to realise they are anything but “soft”.

“I would like to have won six games and be called that,” he said.

“They are still a very good side and have beaten by teams that have played pretty good footy. We certainly respect their capabilities as they still have a lot of good players in their side such as Shaun and Peter Burgoyne, Warren Tredrea and Brendan Lade – who is as good a ruckman as anyone else in the competition.”

etc ...

I'd be more confident if this game was the G rather than our home ground where we struggle to win games. You thumped us at home last year and in all likelihood your rucks will give your speedsters and ball winners an advantage in the midfield.

Cornes on Waite would be a good match up and both players have an abundance of speed and aggression.

Ditto for Kane Cornes versus Murphy.

199 cms and 100 kilograms of Mad Irishman versus 199 cms and 89 kgs of rookie should be an interesting match up to watch. :D

Reported on 7 news from training that Wilson and Brogan will play. Choco pretty much confirmed it.

Peter Burgoyne didn't train.

Peter Burgoyne didn't train.

He seems to have a niggle that's causing him to not play as well as he usually does. I think they're trying to 'manage' him till the mid season break.

This is how I hope it all goes to plan

Fevola - Thurstans
Waite - Pettigrew
Surjan - Fisher [possibly Carrazzo if he looks dangerous forward]
K. Cornes - Carrazzo
Cassisi - Murphy
Whitnall - Wakelin

I think we'll let Jr, Chad or Wilbur go head to head with their other midfielders/small bodied players like Scotland, Simpson, Lappin.

The other guy I would be worried about would be the run off half back. I remember seeing Walker do this so we'll have to watch that.

Should kill it in the rucks but haven't been great recently.

Wish I knew the Carlton team a bit more intimately. I'm sure I've missed a few.

K Cornes is best as a stopper - he is not a creator - Must go to Murphy

Expect SB and PB to not be interested again due to close tags.

Im going to the Dome and expecting more of the same...
