Welcome to the Tooooooooooooov's thread for 2011.

Height - 189 cms

As was the case with numerous players from the 2010 premiership team, Alan Toovey started his professional football career on the rookie list. A successful season playing with Williamstown in the VFL saw him promoted to the senior list for 2007. In 2007, Tooves had an outstanding debut where he snared three goals playing up forward. However, that would be Toove's best game for the season, playing only one game in the second half where he put in an extremely poor performance against Richmond where his awareness, decision making and football skills were severely questioned by many (including me). 2008 was much the same for Possum, managing only seven games and struggled to find a position, playing in the forwardline, backline and as a midfield tagger during 2007 and 2008. One of Collingwood's favourite whipping boys, Toovey was one of the preferred players to be delisted at the end of the 2008 season.

However he proved his critics wrong in 2009 with a breakout year, playing all bar one game and cementing a spot in the Collingwood back six, playing mainly as a small negating defender. Toovey continued to improve in 2010 where he played every game of the year as an integral part of the backline, rarely failing MM in stopping the leagues most dangerous small forwards. His Grand final performances were of particular note, keeping his opponents quiet while also providing run and carry out of the back line.

In my opinion there is no better sight in football than Alan Toovey, eyes wide, galloping past an opponent and delivering an uncoordinated looking but surprisingly accurate pass to a teammate while the crowd belts out a low, throaty roar of TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS.

Big things are expected of this man in 2011.

(Sorry for the history lesson, just love how much Tooves has grown as a player over the years)

Toovey Tops Pressure Statistic for Grand Final Two.

This season, all pressure acts will be recorded - whether physical or implied pressure.
A player will score a point for a physical pressure act when he lays an effective tackle or lays a hand on the opposition ball carrier as he tries to get the ball away.
With implied pressure being tracked for the first time, the ability to corral an opponent will be rewarded.
Players chasing an opponent from behind, forcing them to hurriedly dispose of the ball, also will be rewarded with a "pressure act".
A pressure act column will be added to the stats box, allowing a simple indication of which teams and players are loafing and who is following instructions and putting opponents under heat.
Champion Data has reviewed last year's second Grand Final for pressure, identifying Scott Pendlebury and Alan Toovey as the most significant pressure players in the premiership team.
Pendlebury and Toovey both managed 19 pressure acts, physical and implied.
